<\/p>
Beat the Chasers\u2019 newest addition Issa Schultz has revealed the advice Anne Hegerty gave him after he replaced her on the upcoming season.<\/p>\n
ITV confirmed yesterday that the Governess would not be appearing in the new run of Beat the Chasers<\/a> after testing positive for COVID-19 the week filming started.<\/p>\n Instead, Schultz \u2013 who is a Chaser on Australia\u2019s version of The Chase and Beat the Chaser \u2013 will be filling in for her while she self-isolates.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to\u00a0RadioTimes.com<\/a> on the first day of filming, Schultz said that Hegerty had been \u201cincredibly supportive\u201d of him joining the show.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t believe I\u2019m here. Frankly, [I\u2019m] excited and flattered that they asked me. I\u2019ve always dreamed to come on the UK version in some regard when the Aussie one started because as a dual citizen, it\u2019s a great opportunity.<\/p>\n \u201cSo with that in the back of my mind, I was sort of like, \u2018Yes! At last!\u2019 but the circumstances were unfortunate obviously.\u201d<\/p> When asked whether Hegerty gave him any advice ahead of filming, he said: \u201cWe have a shared messenger group, we\u2019ve had it for years, and \u2013 what did she say? Gosh. I think she just said, \u2018Be yourself.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cShe said, \u2018That\u2019s what makes you work on the Australian Chase, you being yourself.\u2019 A lot of people say that and I\u2019ve never really understood why that is. You can\u2019t be yourself from the outside-in really, can you?\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cThey just said, \u2018Be Issa. Australia love it, hopefully the UK will as well.\u2019 What you see is what you get, I\u2019m no actor.\u201d<\/p>\n Schultz, who is nicknamed the Supernerd, has been with The Chase Australia since the show began in 2015, taking on contestants alongside UK Chasers Hegerty and Mark Labbett.<\/p>\n He is an eight-time winner of the Australian Quizzing Championships and has appeared on Hell\u2019s Kitchen Australia, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and The Einstein Factor.<\/p>\n Beat the Chasers airs on ITV later this year.
