Bridgerton season 2\u00a0is almost here, with the Netflix smash hit returning for more regency romps on Friday 25th March <\/strong>as Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) falls head over heels for new character Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).<\/p>\n But while there\u2019s much that viewers will recognise from its debut outing, there is distinctly less sex<\/a> this time around \u2013 which some viewers may be disappointed to hear.<\/p>\n Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press, Bridgerton<\/a> showrunner Chris van Dusen defended the direction that season 2 has taken.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was never about quantity for us,\u201d he explained. \u201cOur approach to intimacy on the show really is the same as season 1. And we use these intimate scenes to tell a story and to push the story forward. We\u2019ve never done a sex scene for the sake of doing a sex scene, and I don\u2019t think we ever will.<\/p>\n \u201cIt all serves a larger purpose and it\u2019s a different story this season. It\u2019s different characters. We\u2019re with Anthony and Kate most of the season and that\u2019s very different from Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Reg\u00e9-Jean Page).<\/p>\n \u201cAnd that\u2019s really part of the draw to me of a project like this, the ability to tell these close-ended love stories of different characters season after season.\u201d<\/p>\n
