The actress isn’t so sure when it comes to Adam and Sarah’s future. <\/p>
Tina O\u2019Brien has revealed she has her doubts over the marriage of her Coronation Street<\/a> character Sarah and husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).<\/p>\n Her words come just as Sarah and Adam are at loggerheads thanks to his ex Lydia Chambers (Rebecca Ryan), who has successfully managed to split the couple by planting fake evidence that Adam has been having an affair with her.<\/p>\n Lydia also deliberately trashed her flat and framed Adam so he would get arrested<\/a>. With Sarah having told Adam she has now filed for divorce, Lydia\u2019s twisted scheme has worked very well<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a confrontation this week we finally learned Lydia\u2019s backstory, as she reminded Adam of their past relationship and how he once pressured her to have an abortion. She then ended up pushing him off a balcony.<\/p>\n While we wait to find out if Adam will be okay and whether Lydia will pay for her actions, O\u2019Brien recently told Digital Spy and other media<\/a> that she is torn over whether Sarah and Adam should get back together.<\/p>\n Read more:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a tough one,\u201d she mused. \u201cBefore this storyline I would have said they were unbreakable and really good together. I think this storyline has shown the worse in both of them.<\/p>\n \u201cThe fact that Sarah hasn\u2019t trusted her own husband, the fact that she was so quick to doubt him, the fact that she was so quick to believe this girl who hasn\u2019t been on the scene that long says already that there are trust issues.\u201d<\/p>\n The star made some strong points, as regardless of Adam\u2019s track record it\u2019s never wise for a soap spouse to fall for the words of a stranger over their own partner\u2019s protests! But O\u2019Brien added that the storyline has also shone a light on Adam\u2019s disrespectful behaviour.<\/p> With both Adam and Sarah having lived on the cobbles on and off since childhood, the actress noted that the pair are now \u201ctrying to grow up together\u201d, and also that \u201cthey\u2019re trying to become normal people together\u201d.\u201dBut I think it\u2019s also shown that Adam hasn\u2019t been respectful of women over the years. He\u2019s treated them like pieces of meat and he says he\u2019s this changed man, but I don\u2019t know if he has grown up.\u201d<\/p>\n This perhaps isn\u2019t the best foundation for a marriage built to last, but as O\u2019Brien pointed out, the couple\u2019s future is in the hands of the show. \u201cIt\u2019s up to the writers to decide if they can get over this.\u201d<\/p>\n She was also asked if she had a favourite scene partner amongst Sarah\u2019s love interests, and praised all her co-stars. \u201cI couldn\u2019t ever choose. I\u2019ve been incredibly fortunate to work with some really great guys.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien, who has portrayed Sarah since 1999, was also full of affection for her character\u2019s extended family.<\/p>\n \u201cBut my favourite relationship is my Platts \u2013 no men, just my family. I adore them. I\u2019m very fortunate when we get to work together. It feels like magic.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s like we are a little family, especially when we\u2019ve got Sue (Nicholls) playing Audrey. Hopefully now coming out of COVID, I hope we can get to do those scenes again.
