The second season of Bridgerton<\/a> makes its Netflix<\/a> debut on Friday, with the period drama shining the spotlight on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his search for a wife.<\/p>\n

This won\u2019t come as a surprise to fans of Julia Quinn\u2019s Bridgerton books, who\u2019ll know that season two is based on The Viscount Who Loved Me<\/a> \u2013 the second book in the series.<\/p>\n

With seasons 3 and 4 officially greenlit and the stories of Penelope Featherington, Eloise Bridgerton and her brothers Colin and Benedict yet to be wrapped up, there\u2019s plenty of material to get through in the next few years.<\/p>\n

Bridgerton books: release order<\/h2>\n

Julia Quinn\u2019s Bridgerton series begins with The Duke and I, published in 2000, and ends with On the Way to the Wedding, published in 2006 about Gregory Bridgerton \u2013 although there\u2019s an epilogue, The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After, focussing on Violet Bridgerton.<\/p>\n

      Each book in the Bridgerton series focuses on the romantic exploits of one of the family\u2019s children \u2013 starting with Daphne Bridgerton in the first novel, The Duke and I.<\/p>

      The main Bridgerton series was released in chronological order, however the Lady Whistledown spin-off novellas slot in throughout.<\/p>\n

      1. The Duke and I<\/a> (April 1813).\nCovered by season one of the Netflix drama, Book One follows the love story of Daphne Bridgerton and The Duke of Hastings.<\/li>\n
      2. The Viscount Who Loved Me<\/a> (1814)\nBook Two looks at the story of Anthony, the eldest Bridgerton sibling, and his romance with Kate Sheffield, the older sister of the woman he was actually planning to marry.<\/li>\n
      3. The Further Observations of Lady Whistledown<\/a> (1814)\nLady Whistledown\u2019s observations in the weeks leading up to Valentine\u2019s Day 1814.<\/li>\n
      4. An Offer From a Gentleman<\/a> (1815)\nFollowing Benedict Bridgerton, Book Three is a Cinderella-esque story about his crush on Sophie Beckett, an earl\u2019s daughter who is cruelly treated by her stepmother.<\/li>\n
      5. Lady Whistledown Strikes Back<\/a> (May 1816)\nAnother anthology series, this novella takes a peek at Lady Whistledown\u2019s Society Papers in May 1816.<\/li>\n
      6. Romancing Mister Bridgerton<\/a> (1824)\nBook Four tells the long love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.<\/li>\n
      7. To Sir Phillip, With Love<\/a> (1824)\nWe finally get to Eloise Bridgerton, who is expected to marry Sir Phillip Crane \u2013 but is it the right choice?<\/li>\n
      8. When He Was Wicked<\/a> (1824)\nNow onto the younger Bridgerton siblings, Book Six looks at Francesca Bridgerton and her romance with Michael Stirling.<\/li>\n
      9. It\u2019s In His Kiss<\/a> (1825)\nThis novel looks at Hyacinth Bridgerton and Gareth St Clair.<\/li>\n
      10. On the Way to the Wedding<\/a> (1827)\nThe second youngest Bridgerton child finally gets a romance of his own in On the Way to the Wedding.<\/li>\n
      11. The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After<\/a>\nThe final epilogue in the series, focussing on the family\u2019s matriarch Violet Bridgerton.<\/li>\n<\/ol>
