Following Unforgotten\u2019s tragic season 4 finale \u2013 and the\u00a0<\/span>death of DCI Cassie Stewart<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>(Nicola Walker) \u2013\u00a0the crime drama is returning to ITV for another instalment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

And now it\u2019s been revealed who will be replacing Walker in season 5<\/a>, with Sin\u00e9ad Keenan (Showtrial, Little Blue Boy) taking over the reins.<\/p>\n

The actress joins the Unforgotten cast,<\/a> led by actor Sanjeev Chaska as DI Sunny Khan.<\/p>\n

During a chat with\u00a0 RadioTimes.com<\/a>, the Chaska\u00a0 discussed what we can expect from Unforgotten season 5<\/a> following the shocking events of the last run.<\/p>\n

The story will pick up not long after the end of the last story,\u201d he said. \u201cSo there is a connection to that story.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He added that he felt \u201cvery privileged\u201d to be a part of the crime drama.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cChris Lang, who has written all of them, has written this one,\u201d he added. \u201cSo yeah, it\u2019s very exciting reading the scripts, a bit weird not to see Nicola\u2019s character there, but I saw Nicola two, three times, I suppose, in the last couple of months, over Christmas. So we keep in touch a lot anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bhaskar added: \u201cGiven that in series 1, I and nobody else had any idea of how this would work out in terms of, you know, the castings and the writing the directing, I go into series 5 with a lot of faith in whoever\u2019s coming in.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAnd the actors that will come in, will be cast as they have in the previous four. So you know, that calibre of people is very exciting to work alongside and work opposite and work with. And it keeps me on my toes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

ITV has not yet announced when Unforgotten\u2019s fifth series will arrive on our screens \u2013 but hopefully, we won\u2019t have to wait as long as we did for season four.<\/p>\n
Before series four, each series took roughly a year and a half to land on ITV, with series one, two and three airing in 2015, 2017 and 2018 respectively. However, there was a huge gap of two and half years between series three and four, which was partly down to filming delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n
Taking previous series into account, we predict that Unforgotten could be back on our screens by\u00a0September\/October 2022\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 as long as COVID-19 doesn\u2019t wreak havoc with production plans.<\/p>\n
In a tweet posted in July 2021, creator Chris Lang revealed that he was back writing Unforgotten season five \u2013 while eagle-eyed characters might spot a reference to a character named \u201cFaith\u201d. Could that be the name of the Unforgotten replacement for Nicola Walker<\/a>?<\/p>\n
