Doctor Who\u2019s upcoming Easter special sees the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop) come face-to-face with classic monsters The Sea Devils, who\u2019ve turned to piracy on the South China Sea decades after their last appearance in the BBC sci-fi series.<\/p>\n
And if you had any doubt about the Sea Devils\u2019 fearsomeness, episode star Mandip Gill has proof, revealing that she suffered a minor injury while facing off with them in a climactic sword-fighting scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have this really amazing stunt and they hurt my finger and I can\u2019t stop thinking about it!\u201d Gill told RadioTimes.com<\/a> at the Radio Times Covers Party<\/strong>. \u201cI was like, I actually hurt my finger because of a Sea Devil. Not many people get to say that.<\/p> \u201cIt didn\u2019t go down very well,\u201d she laughed. \u201cI was like, \u2018This sword is really heavy. And I\u2019ve hurt my finger now. Shall we stop?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Still, despite these challenges, Gill was enthusiastic about the upcoming Doctor Who<\/a> adventure, stating that she was \u201creally proud\u201d of the finished product.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a big family fun adventure. Really swashbuckly, exciting, but actually there\u2019s so much heart,\u201d she told us. \u201cAnd my favourite word for this episode is understanding.<\/p>\n \u201cChris [Chibnall] is really good at writing characters and emotion and we do get that through. It is epic. Like, the sets were amazing, the actors are amazing, the costumes and stuff\u2026 but there is so much heart in that episode.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really proud of this one.
