What next for Duke Shelby?<\/p>\n

Peaky Blinders<\/a> actor Conrad Khan has revealed that he \u201chopes\u2019 his character will return for the upcoming Peaky Blinders film<\/a> and future instalments of the franchise.<\/p>\n

Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, actor Conrad Khan discussed the final season of the BBC One drama, joining the esteemed Peaky Blinders cast<\/a> and his character, Erasmus \u201cDuke\u201d Shelby.<\/a><\/p>\n

Duke played a key role in the final episodes, having been introduced in the fourth instalment as Tommy Shelby\u2019s illegitimate son.<\/p>\n

In the finale, Duke proved himself as a member of the gang and the Shelby family, helping his father to root out the traitor Billy Grade<\/a> (Emmett J. Scanlan) and exiling his uncle Finn Shelby (Harry Kirton) from the family.<\/p>

In a key finale scene, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) whispered in Duke\u2019s ear before he departed, but viewers did not know what he said to his son.<\/p>\n

With so much conversation developing about the series creator Steven Knight continuing the franchise with a film or spin-off series, has Duke \u2013 now sporting the Peaky undercut hairstyle \u2013 got a place in the future of the show?<\/p>\n

Conrad Khan<\/span> revealed to RadioTimes.com:<\/strong> \u201cI hope so. I hope so. [Steven Knight] hasn\u2019t spoken to me about it. I don\u2019t think he even knows in his mind what he wants to take it next. But yeah, who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n

Noting the \u201cinfinite possibilities\u201d of where to take the franchise and the \u201cdesire for more content\u201d, Khan<\/span> doubts that this season is the end of the Peaky Blinders universe.<\/p>\n

So, if Duke does return, is there anything that the actor would be keen to explore with the character in future?<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he has kind of a fierce independence,\u201d revealed Khan. \u201cHe does have\u2026a kind of a wild, feral, violent side to him. And I think as an actor that that\u2019s quite fun to play sometimes. So maybe a bit of that, a bit of action. I enjoy doing the action.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans will have to wait and see if Duke really becomes his father\u2019s heir.<\/p>\n
