Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Mangan also spoke about his character\u2019s relationship with Hannah (Nicola Walker in The Split cast<\/a>), after their marriage crumbled at the end of last season following her affair with co-worker Christie (Barry Atsma).<\/p>\n On whether he\u2019d return for a spin-off to The Split, Mangan joked: \u201cNathan and Christie open an antiques boutique in the Cotswolds together,\u201d before adding: \u201cAll you want as an actor is to be in stuff like this that\u2019s well written, well acted, well directed, well produced and popular and interesting. So yeah, absolutely, of course.\u201d<\/p>\n Season 3 will include plenty of drama between Nicola Walker\u2019s Hannah<\/a> and Mangan\u2019s Nathan, who has already started a new relationship with a child psychologist named Kate (Laura Pulver) behind Hannah\u2019s back.<\/p>\n On whether Nathan and Hannah could get back together later this season, Mangan said that \u201cthere\u2019s a reason why they had such a long and successful marriage\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the beginning they\u2019re splitting up and let\u2019s see where that goes. But there\u2019s a reason why they had such a long and successful marriage. They really got each other and they\u2019ve known each other their lives,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n \u201cTheir lives are completely intertwined in every respect, so there\u2019s no reason why they wouldn\u2019t do a [Richard] Burton and [Elizabeth] Taylor and carry on getting divorced and married and divorced and married.\u201d<\/p> He continued: \u201cI think there\u2019s a proper, proper love there, which is what makes it so painful, of course, because if there wasn\u2019t, it\u2019d be easy. They\u2019d just say, \u2018This isn\u2019t working.\u2019 But that\u2019s the problem.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat do you do when you love someone but it\u2019s not quite working? Do you stick it out? Do you split up and think there\u2019s more to be had out there? I\u2019m sure people are wrestling with that conundrum all the time.<\/p>\n \u201cI think almost every adult will know what it\u2019s like to be with someone or want to be with someone or be with someone who doesn\u2019t want to be with you. All those variations. That\u2019s what the show is about.
