Well, if it wasn\u2019t for \u201cone big problem\u201d, that is: the tragic death of Mrs Hudson star Una Stubbs, who passed away at the age of 84 last summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d do Sherlock again tomorrow. Why ask me?\u201d Moffat remarked in an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Radio Times Covers Party<\/strong><\/a>, with his co-creator Gatiss and their producer Sue Vertue close by.<\/p>\n \u201cMark would do it tomorrow and Sue would do it tomorrow, we\u2019d all just do it again! It\u2019s down to Benedict and Martin. No, you know, they were very loyal to that show over a very long life when it definitely became their lowest paying job. And I don\u2019t think that\u2019s necessarily what they want to do now.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cFair enough. Absolutely fair enough. But if anyone thinks I\u2019m the one getting the way, I will confidently tell you, I would start writing it tomorrow. If everybody else did, too.\u201d<\/p>\n Moffat added: \u201cThere\u2019s just one little problem. And it\u2019s one little problem. It\u2019s actually one big problem that none of us might be able to get past. Where\u2019s Mrs. Hudson? Where\u2019s Una Stubbs? And maybe if we reassemble that set, and she didn\u2019t magically appear, we might all be too sad to make a show.<\/p>\n \u201cSo those are the things. We would do it. I\u2019d do it, Mark would do it, Sue would do it. We might be too sad to get through it. And we\u2019d need our leading men, and quite understandably they may well feel they\u2019ve done their time. Fair enough!\u201d<\/p> In a separate interview, Gatiss said they\u2019ve \u201cnot shut the door\u201d on Sherlock, reiterating that he, Moffat and Sue Vertue would all \u201cvery much like to do some more\u201d but that, ultimately, it comes down to the cast.<\/p>\n \u201cYou may have noticed, the cast are very busy,\u201d he said. \u201cSo that\u2019s where we are at the moment really. I mean\u2026 who can say?\u201d<\/p>\n Cumberbatch and Freeman have certainly had pretty busy schedules over the past few months, with the former earning a Best Actor nomination at this year\u2019s Oscars for his turn in Jane Campion\u2019s The Power of the Dog<\/a>, and the latter starring in recent BBC One drama\u00a0The Responder<\/a>.<\/p>\n Both actors are also now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though in quite contrasting roles, with Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and Freeman as Everett K. Ross.
