Hullraisers<\/a>, a shiny new Channel 4<\/a> comedy from comedian Lucy Beaumont, follows three working class Hull natives \u2013 Toni, Rana and Paula \u2013 as they navigate female friendship, relationships, parenthood, their careers and everything in between.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about the chaos of everyday life,\u201d Zomboat!\u2019s Leah Brotherhead (Toni) told RadioTimes.com<\/a>. \u201cFinding your way through the day-to-day. And also just trying to go out and have a drink [laughs].\u201d<\/p>\n

The cast were also keen to emphasise that it\u2019s rare to see a show that\u2019s not only set in Hull, but one that emphasises the city\u2019s best feature: its people.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not grey and grim up north,\u201d said Line of Duty\u2019s<\/a> Taj Atwal (Rana). \u201cThat sums it up. It\u2019s the fun, it\u2019s the vibrancy, it\u2019s the get on with life and make the most of every day in every situation. It\u2019s so colourful and loud and fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chewing Gum<\/a>\u2018s Sinead Matthews (Paula) added: \u201cThey\u2019re such characters and also uniquely represented. It didn\u2019t feel generalised at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it definitely doesn\u2019t feel like they\u2019re having a rough time up there. They\u2019re having a great time. They make the best of what they\u2019ve got.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brotherhead went on to expand on the unshakeable unit at the heart of the narrative: \u201cThese friends are constantly taking the piss out of each other but they do it with such love and such heart, and the show itself has such heart.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there\u2019s no spitefulness or nastiness. We can all love each other deep down and then just be brutally honest at the same time, which felt very authentic. And we\u2019re all from cities that are very much like that with our friends, so it felt very real.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthews added: \u201cThere is a ferocity there, a feistiness, but it is steeped in great love.\u201d<\/p>
