The film has been described as an \u2018adventure rom-com\u2019 due to the nature of the relationship between Loretta and Tatum\u2019s character \u2013 a cover model named Alan who sets out to rescue her from her unenviable fate.<\/p>\n
But in an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Bullock revealed that she thinks the movie would be pitched differently if her and Tatum\u2019s roles were reversed.<\/p>\n \u201cIt doesn\u2019t fall into the typical category of rom-com,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s action-adventure, it has comedy and has some romance.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd if the roles were reversed, if it had been Channing in my role and me in his role, they wouldn\u2019t be calling it a rom-com adventure. They\u2019d be calling it Indiana Jones.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I sort of wanted to have what the guys had had for so long and not make it overt, so you just go, \u2018I\u2019ve had the best time. Oh, wait a minute. Did you notice that this wasn\u2019t this way and this wasn\u2019t\u2026\u2019, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n The film has already performed well at the US box office, and asked if she feels optimistic about the future of this kind of movie on the big screen, Bullock \u2013 who also serves as a producer \u2013 said she wasn\u2019t sure.<\/p>\n \u201cWe came up against a lot making it because there was no comp for it,\u201d she explained. \u201cBut it kind of feels good that now we are the comp for it. Because we need it!\u201d<\/p> Speaking about her character, Bullock said: \u201cShe was a history writer, she was an archaeology buff \u2013 she loved the unearthing of fact. But it didn\u2019t sell. So she added some sex and then became a romance novelist.<\/p>\n \u201cI understand the history side,\u201d she added. \u201cI love history, I love archaeology, I love the unearthing of treasures of truth in life.
