ITV has finally confirmed the release date for Grace episode 2, over a year after the crime drama\u2019s first, chilling episode premiered (you can read our Grace episode 1 ending<\/a> explainer here).<\/p>\n

Based on the second of the Peter James books<\/a>, the new\u00a0feature-length episode marks the end of the first season \u2013 and the series has already been renewed for a second season<\/a>, with production beginning later this year.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the show\u2019s renewal, John Simm (Life on Mars) told\u00a0 RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press that he\u00a0already has his \u201cfingers crossed\u201d that ITV would adapt more Roy Grace books<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the ITV series, Simm plays the role of a troubled but methodical detective, whose missing wife casts a shadow over his already turbulent career.<\/p>\n

The thriller is based on the bestselling novels by Peter James, and the first episode is available to watch now on ITV Hub<\/a> and BritBox<\/a>, following a groom-to-be who found himself in a (ahem) grave situation following his stag-night.<\/p>\n

Simm leads the Grace cast<\/a> as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, whose investigations have been adapted from the books by Endeavour<\/a> creator Russell Lewis, and he is joined in the cast by the likes of\u00a0Richie Campbell (Liar, Small Axe) and Rakie Ayola (Noughts + Crosses).<\/p>\n

Grace author Peter James teased upcoming cameos<\/a> in the new season, telling\u00a0RadioTimes.com\u00a0<\/strong>and other press that both he and his wife play \u201ccoppers on the beach\u2026\u00a0at the start of the fourth one, Not Dead Enough\u201d.<\/p>\n

Production for the first episode began in Brighton in September 2020 under coronavirus safety regulations, with the Grace filming locations<\/a> including some prominent landmarks in the city and its surrounding area.<\/p>\n

Novelist James revealed that he was delighted with the show\u2019s \u201cinspired\u201d casting, stating: \u201cJohn Simm, who actually looks like the Roy Grace of my imagination, is inspired casting!\u202f With John in the lead, the brilliant scripting by Russell Lewis, and our wonderful production team, I\u2019m confident that fans of my novels, and of TV crime dramas in general, will be in for a treat.\u201d<\/p>\n

When is Grace on ITV?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
Grace episode 2 will premiere on TV on Sunday 24th April 2022 at 8pm<\/strong>. The new feature-length episode is titled Looking Good Dead.<\/p>\n
The first episode premiered on ITV on Sunday 14th March 2021.\u00a0Grace was first announced in December 2019, before filming commenced in September 2020.<\/p>\n
The series has since been renewed for a second season following the success of the debut episode. Filming for season 2 was due to take place in the Brighton area later in 2021.<\/p>\n
