You don\u2019t have to watch it [laughs],&#8217;\u201d Merritt Wever told <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/&quot;\">RadioTimes.com<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>She is, of course, talking about the scene in episode five of <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/technology\/technology-guides\/apple-tv-plus-guide\/&quot;\">Apple TV+<\/a> series <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/roar-release-date\/&quot;\">Roar<\/a>, The Women Who Was Fed By A Duck, in which said bird instructs her character to remove her trousers and lie down on the floor \u2013 \u201cYou\u2019ve done so much for me, I want to do something for you\u201d \u2013 before performing oral sex on her.<\/p>\n<p>Now there\u2019s a sentence you don\u2019t say everyday.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s one of the most \u2013 if not the most \u2013 extraordinary sight most of us will ever witness, on-screen or otherwise.<\/p>\n<ul><li><strong>Read More: <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/roar-apple-review\/&quot;\">Roar review: You\u2019ll never look at ducks in the same way again<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><p><span style=\"&quot;font-weight:\">\u201cPeople keep asking what I think of the episode, which makes sense because I worked on it and this is part of my job,\u201d she said. \u201cBut the truth is I\u2019m a lot more interested in what the people who watch it and experience what we made feel about it. And <\/span><span style=\"&quot;font-weight:\">I\u2019m nervous about it, honestly. I\u2019m nervous to hear how it is received. I\u2019m scared.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"&quot;font-weight:\">She added: \u201cI hope people feel it was worthwhile. <\/span><span style=\"&quot;font-weight:\">I hope people feel it\u2019s treated with respect. I hope people don\u2019t feel that because it is a story told in a container that has a bit of a gloss on it, or comes off a certain way in the beginning, that it is not being treated seriously because we certainly did take it seriously.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p> <p>Beneath the absurd, comical facade is a story about domestic abuse, which disproportionately impacts women. Wever\u2019s character suffers both emotionally and physically at the hands \u2013 or wings, in this instance \u2013 of her partner, who seamlessly disguises his true nature when the pair first meet at a local park. But over time, the mask drops and his cruelty is revealed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"&quot;font-weight:\">\u201cThis is a woman who is at a very uncertain point in her life,\u201d she explained. \u201cEven though she\u2019s incredibly intelligent and incredibly confident and capable, she\u2019s feeling a little disconnected from both herself and her family. And she meets this duck, who feeds her and she thinks the duck is feeding her good things, but she finds by the end of the story that the duck is feeding her bad things and she learns to feed herself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<iframe title=\"&quot;Roar\" official=\"\" trailer=\"\" apple=\"\" tv=\"\" width=\"&quot;200&quot;\" height=\"&quot;113&quot;\" src=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RK1OtUOdfi0?feature=oembed&quot;\" frameborder=\"&quot;0&quot;\" allow=\"&quot;accelerometer;\" autoplay=\"\" clipboard-write=\"\" encrypted-media=\"\" gyroscope=\"\" picture-in-picture=\"\" allowfullscreen=\"\"\/>\n<p>And just in case you were wondering, the duck that features in the episode is real.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"&quot;font-weight:\">\u201cWe had the actor Justin Kirk from Angels in America and Weeds,\u201d said Wever. \u201cWe had him every day, every scene, practically right off camera out of my sight line playing each scene with me. And then I would be working with the duck, which is a live being, so it\u2019s moving, it\u2019s listening, it\u2019s looking. I was prepared to be constantly just grabbing snippets of the scene but instead, the duck was extraordinary. <\/span><span style=\"&quot;font-weight:\">The thing that I thought was going to be the hardest was not the thing that was the hardest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"&quot;font-weight:\">\u201cThe most difficult part of the job was the most difficult part of every job, which is the acting, figuring out how to play the scene.
