Anatomy of a Scandal star Naomi Scott has revealed that a scene involving her character Olivia Lytton didn\u2019t make it into the final edit.<\/p>\n

In the Netflix drama, we only ever see the parliamentary researcher, who accuses Tory MP James Whitehouse of rape, in flashbacks or in court. But her day-to-day in the present moment, away from the judge and jury, is hidden from viewers.<\/p>

\u201cWhat I love about this show is it kind of puts the audience in the seat of the jury,\u201d said Scott. \u201c<\/span>I think that\u2019s really effective because ultimately, if you are a member of the jury, you\u2019re dealing with these fragments of memory, which I think makes these cases really hard to prosecute.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe did actually shoot something, Olivia after everything, but it didn\u2019t feel right. It didn\u2019t feel like it did the character justice, to tie it off with a bow.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI actually think it\u2019s more powerful to just allow people to go, \u2018Wow, what happened to her?\u2019 And a lot of the time these types of victims are forgotten, so I think it\u2019s really fitting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Scott went on to say that she was \u201creally nervous\u201d when initially entering the courtroom for her Anatomy of a Scandal<\/a> scenes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cT<\/span>he set itself is really quite daunting and I thought, \u2018OK, I\u2019m an actor. This is not real.\u2019 I can\u2019t imagine how it must feel for someone who actually has to retell their trauma to a bunch of people who aren\u2019t necessarily supporting them, but actually judging whether they\u2019re lying or not.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt really did open my mind and my eyes and I just thought, \u2018Wow, how brave it is to come forward.\u2019 But also, I completely understand why someone wouldn\u2019t want to go through that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Chatting to Radio Times magazine<\/a>, Scott said of the series: \u201cIt asks questions of us as an audience member, how we bring our own biases to what we\u2019re seeing. As entertaining as the show is \u2013 and it is a thriller \u2013 I\u2019d like to think that it\u2019ll spark some discussions about consent and privilege.\u201d<\/p>\n
