The highly-anticipated adaptation of Sarah Perry\u2019s novel The Essex Serpent<\/a> is coming to Apple TV+<\/a> in a matter of weeks, and we\u2019ve now finally got our first trailer for the series.<\/p>\n

In the footage we see stars Tom Hiddleston and Claire Danes as they cross misty landscapes and engage in dinner table debates in Victorian England \u2013 we even get hints of an illicit affair between the two.<\/p>\n

In the trailer, Hiddleston\u2019s Will Ransome proclaims that the serpent, a mythical creature claimed to have been seen by Essex residents is \u201can invention, a symptom of the times we live in\u201d.<\/p>\n

Danes\u2019 Cora Seaborne protests: \u201cSo you\u2019re against progress? I\u2019d rather believe in a creature people have actually seen than an invisible god. Is that blasphemy?\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a burgeoning romance between the pair is hinted at, as the married Will tells Cora \u201cI can\u2019t think clearly when I\u2019m around you.\u201d When Cora states she won\u2019t be blamed for Will\u2019s \u201cweakness\u201d, he says that \u201clove is not a weakness\u201d.<\/p>\n
