<\/p>
The BFI & Radio Times Television Festival<\/a> will revisit\u00a0the Queen\u2019s 1953 coronation in a special event hosted by Jonathan Dimbleby, whose father Richard oversaw the original broadcast.<\/p>\n The event will take place on the eve of the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee, with a screening that promises a \u201cnew edit of the BBC\u2019s coverage of the day\u201d.<\/p>\n A synopsis for the event teases: \u201cBroadcast live, the events of 2nd June 1953 were a defining moment of the 20th century, not least for television as cameras brought the new medium into millions of British homes for the first time.<\/p>\n \u201cFor the most ambitious and technically difficult broadcast the BBC had ever tackled, the corporation turned to its senior broadcaster, Richard Dimbleby, to tell the story of the Coronation to 27 million viewers in the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n Jonathan Dimbleby will introduce \u201cthis new edit of the BBC\u2019s coverage of the day,\u201d and revisit \u201chis father\u2019s epic achievement in creating television history\u201d.<\/p>\n Tickets for the event are on sale now<\/a>, priced at \u00a320 per full-price ticket and \u00a316 for concessions.<\/p> The festival will be held at both the BFI\u2019s Southbank base and also in its nearby IMAX cinema.<\/p>\n Other events in the festival line-up include a\u00a0panel and Q&A with the cast and creatives behind Sally Rooney\u2019s next TV adaptation, Conversations with Friends<\/strong><\/a>; a\u00a0Q&A from the cast and creator of BBC series The Outlaws<\/strong><\/a>; and a panel featuring the cast of It\u2019s A Sin<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n There will also be a\u00a0preview for the new season of BBC series Malory Towers<\/strong>, featuring a panel and Q&A with Ella Bright, Danya Griver, Sienna Arif-Knights and Beth Bradfield.<\/p>\n The BFI & Radio Times Television Festival runs from 20th to 22nd May 2022 and you can get tickets here<\/a>.
