Anne Robinson has announced her departure from Channel 4\u2019s Countdown after one year as the show\u2019s host.<\/p>\n
The presenter said that she\u2019d had a \u201cblast\u201d as the face of the quiz show, but that it was time for \u201can older woman to take the reins\u201d.<\/p>\n
Robinson made her Countdown debut in June last year<\/a>, after Channel 4 announced her as the show\u2019s first female host in February.<\/p>\n The 77-year-old will be leaving after 256 episodes, which are set to air up until this summer.<\/p> Robinson said that she had enjoyed hosting the \u201cwonderful show\u201d but had \u201cstayed longer than [she] signed up for\u201d, adding: \u201cI hope too I\u2019ve encouraged TV bosses to realise that not all women at the wrong end of their 70s are in care homes playing bingo and watching conjuring tricks.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cIn fact the genius of Countdown is that it\u2019s a brilliant way to keep the brain exercised. I run 5km most days of the week.
