The second season of the mystery series delved into the murder of surgeon and serial rapist Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd), teasing several suspects across its six episodes.<\/p>\n
In the finale, it was revealed that one of Earlham\u2019s victims, Laura Nielson (Joanne Froggatt), had murdered him<\/a> and left him for dead.<\/p>\n Some fans who were expecting a twist ending were left disgruntled by the finale and labelled it anticlimactic, as Laura was the obvious suspect from the very beginning.<\/p>\n So could there be more episodes of the ITV drama?<\/p>\n It\u2019s unlikely we\u2019ll get any further instalments, according to Liar star Froggatt, who has said season 2 was always going to serve as the show\u2019s ending.<\/p>\n Read on for everything you need to know about the future of ITV drama Liar.<\/p>\n ITV has not commissioned a third season of Liar.<\/p>\n Froggatt previously explained that the drama was only ever meant to run for two seasons and that the season 2 finale would tie up all the loose ends.<\/p>\n In an interview with The Sun<\/a>\u2019s TV Mag back in 2020, Froggatt said: \u201cI\u2019m proud we\u2019ve done another series. This will be the end of Andrew and Laura\u2019s story. I think it\u2019s really honest with the viewers.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cThere\u2019s nothing worse than investing your time in something and then you get to season 3 and think, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s all gone too far. I don\u2019t believe it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Responding to fan speculation that Andrew isn\u2019t actually dead, and that he could return for a third outing, Froggatt insisted that he definitely is.<\/p>\n \u201cAndrew Earlham is dead. He\u2019s definitely dead! Now Laura is under suspicion and she\u2019s very angry about injustice,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n Writers and creators Harry and Jack Williams also confirmed that Liar was always going to conclude with a second season.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you enjoyed series one this is the conclusion,\u00a0we always intended to give it. The same amount of twists, turns, reveals, shocks and secrets exposed with thriller moments,\u201d Jack added.<\/p>\n And despite the mixed reactions from fans,\u00a0Froggatt thinks the season 2 finale did offer viewers a satisfying ending<\/a>.<\/p>\n Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> ahead of the season 2 finale\u2019s air date, she said: \u201cI was very satisfied, but you can\u2019t please all of the people all of the time.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cSo it\u2019s an individual thing, isn\u2019t it? But for me, I think yes. Absolutely.
