Emmerdale<\/a> star Rosie Bentham says her alter ego Gabby Thomas has \u201cselfish\u201d reasons for wanting to keep Jamie Tate\u2019s (Alexander Lincoln) fake death twist a secret.<\/p>\n

Last month, Gabby discovered through Jamie\u2019s young daughter Millie (Willow Bell) that the father of her baby son Thomas has been alive and well all this time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a><\/strong> and other press about Emmerdale\u2019s huge upcoming \u2018flashforward week\u2019, Bentham was asked why her character has chosen not to tell Jamie\u2019s mum, Kim Tate (Claire King), who currently still thinks her son is dead after a car accident last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I think Gabby\u2019s been really selfish with this, because she knows that Kim is\u2026we all know Kim is a very, very powerful woman and when she wants something she\u2019s going to get it,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n

Expanding further on Gabby\u2019s fears, the actress adds: \u201cAnd if [Kim] wants to find out where Jamie is, where he\u2019s been, and she wants him back at Home Farm and whatever she decides.<\/p>\n

\u201cKim is so impulsive, so for all Gabby knows she could bring Jamie back, and Jamie can work his little magic and worm his way back in and take Gabby\u2019s place and take custody of Thomas; and that leaves Gabby right back at rock bottom again.\u201d<\/p>

She continued: \u201cAnd obviously Gabby\u2019s dragged Dawn into this mess and kind of taken Dawn all round the houses to search for Jamie and when Dawn\u2019s gone like \u2018oh great okay so let\u2019s tell Kim,\u2019 Gabby\u2019s gone \u2018hold on, no, no, we can\u2019t do that!\u2019 because of Gabby\u2019s own personal reasons and her own safety. To be honest, she\u2019s just really, really worried about how Kim\u2019s going to react and what Kim can do with her powers.\u201dBentham also muses over the fact that Gabby may regret keeping the ruthless Kim in the dark.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I think telling Kim\u2026I think, yes okay it might be a mistake, in the long run, not telling Kim because I think Gabby is going to regret it because she\u2019ll have a lot of explaining to do if it does come out that Gabby\u2019s known all this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
