We already know a fair few details about the special, including the return of some old and new friends (and foes!)<\/a>\u00a0but one thing we weren\u2019t sure of was just how long it would be \u2013 something returning showrunner Russell T Davies has now seemingly revealed.<\/p>\n Speaking to The Sun Showbiz<\/a>, Davies said that it was too soon to give many details about Gatwa\u2019s run because Whittaker is still the Doctor.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cShe\u2019s got an enormous finale, epic finale, 90-minute finale in October. We\u2019re polite gentlemen, it\u2019s only right and fair to shut up. 2023, you\u2019ll be fed up of us, we\u2019ll be everywhere, but until then, we bow to Jodie and love her and step back.\u201d<\/p>\n Departing executive producer Matt Strevens had previously called the special<\/a> \u201ca massive, feature-length epic \u2013 it was huge to shoot \u2013 with lots of surprises for fans of all ages\u201d.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cJodie gets a really good send-off. I think it will push everybody\u2019s buttons.\u201d<\/p> If Davies is indeed correct and the special is 90 minutes, this would make it far longer than a standard episode \u2013 in comparison, this year\u2019s Easter special Legend of the Sea Devils clocked in at 50 minutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n Only time will tell exactly how long the final cut of the episode is and how it plays out \u2013 for now, all we can do is rewatch the trailer<\/a> and speculate about what\u2019s to come.<\/p>\n You can also read our list of the best episodes to watch before the centenary special<\/a>.<\/p>\n Doctor Who is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
