<\/p>
Despite a great track record in the contest\u2019s first years, the UK has failed to make an impression on the Eurovision<\/a> Song Contest for the past two decades.<\/p>\n This year, however, we pulled out all the stops, with construction worker turned TikTok sensation Sam Ryder<\/a> tipped as one of the top contenders by bookies. But were his Eurovision odds<\/a> accurate?<\/p>\n Sam Ryder came second, so they were pretty spot on. He was beat to the top spot by Ukraine<\/a>, who were crowned Eurovision 2022 winners<\/a>. Spain came third.<\/p>\n Ryder\u2019s performance was definitely well received, eliciting plenty of cheers when he walked on stage and after.<\/p>\n It was a close call this year, with many countries bringing their A-game to try to top\u00a0Maneskin<\/a>\u2018s historic performance last year.<\/p> Before he took to the stage, Ryder told the BBC<\/a> he didn\u2019t want to \u201cget to a point where I start believing the hype.\u201d<\/p>\n Ryder, who has 12.5M followers on TikTok, added: \u201cI just want to do everyone proud, and do the best job I possibly can.\u201d<\/p>\n Well, he definitely achieved that.<\/p>\n The 2022 Eurovision Song Contest aired on the BBC from Tuesday 10th May to Saturday 14th May \u2013 listen to all of this year\u2019s Eurovision songs on TIDAL<\/a>, while the full album of tracks is available on CD<\/a> and vinyl<\/a> now.<\/strong><\/p>\n You can also check out the full list of<\/b> Eurovision winners<\/b><\/a> and<\/b> how many times the UK has won Eurovision<\/b><\/a> here.
