With it being so hard to get all the answers correct on Beat the Chasers, it\u2019s very likely that you might guess the wrong answer for at least one question. If that happens, forget about it and move on.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you get one wrong, don\u2019t think, \u2018Oh I got it wrong.\u2019 Forget about it,\u201d Labbett says. \u201cDump it and concentrate on the next question [Bradley is] asking.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not uncommon for contestants to start panicking and find themselves spiralling when they get a question wrong, Darragh Ennis says.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lady who played, one of the questions started with \u2018What sport\u2026\u2019 and she stopped listening to the question because she didn\u2019t know sport,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd her answer was: \u2018Sport\u2019. She\u2019d\u00a0 stopped listening to the question and just panicked. It\u2019s so hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cUltimately, just remember to have fun,\u201d Schultz advises. \u201cJust put every question behind you and immediately focus on the next one.\u201d<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t look at the clock<\/h2>\n
There\u2019s nothing more daunting than having to answer quick-fire questions with a panel of Chasers staring down at you with a limited amount of time to work with \u2013 so don\u2019t focus on the timer, Labbett says.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo not look around, do not look at the clock,\u201d he advises. \u201cKeep concentrating on Bradley Walsh and the sound of his voice.\u201d<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t get distracted by the big sums of money<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Aside from the timer, the Chasers and the hot studio lights, there\u2019s also the prize money to think about when going on Beat the Chasers \u2013 but the key piece of advice host Bradley Walsh has is not to be dazzled by the Chasers\u2019 big offers and to carefully consider whether the time advance you\u2019ll get is worth it.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne thing\u2019s for sure, if you\u2019re going to take on five Chasers and you\u2019ve only got an eight second time advance, if they run out of time before you, you go home with the money. But if they get all their questions right, you can only afford to get two questions wrong under pressure and that is really tricky.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach question answer is around about four seconds, so you\u2019ve got to gauge that and a lot of people come to the show not armed with that information. They don\u2019t really work that out. And consequently, what they\u2019ll do, they\u2019ll take on five chasers with an eight second time advantage because the Chasers have quite cleverly offered them big money.\u201d<\/p>\n
He adds that if all you need is \u00a315,000 or \u00a320,000, choose a smaller number of Chasers to go up against for a bigger time advantage.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou could take on three Chasers and get a 16 second time advantage then that\u2019s manageable but as soon as one of the Chasers goes, \u2018You know what, we\u2019ll give you \u00a3120,000,\u2019 all their strategy goes out of the window and they just look at the money.\u201d<\/p>\n
Work out the Chasers\u2019 strongest and weakest topics<\/strong><\/h2>\n
When it comes to Beat the Chasers homework, it\u2019s always worth figuring out which Chasers you want to avoid if you\u2019re weaker at certain topics and vice versa.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe strategy lies in the choices that you make. If I\u2019m not very good on sport, I don\u2019t want to play a team with The Dark Destroyer in it because he knows everything about sport,\u201d Walsh says. \u201cIf you don\u2019t know anything about art, then you\u2019re thinking if art questions come up, Paul Sinner is going to know everything about art.\u201d<\/p>\n
He adds: \u201cIt\u2019s quite a tricky, tricky thing to do. You know, it\u2019s not easy and anyone coming on the show has my complete admiration, because I couldn\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for each of the Chasers\u2019 strengths and weaknesses, we\u2019ve got that covered for you.<\/p>\n
Shaun Wallace admits that he\u2019s fair game for any questions \u201cexcept for soaps\u201d, while Mark Labbett says that while he\u2019s \u201cfairly good\u201d at sport questions, anything to do with art and culture isn\u2019t ideal for him.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s fair to say when the question starts, \u2018Which literature\u2026\u2019 or \u2018Which author\u2026\u2019 I\u2019m already taking my hand away from the buzzer,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
For Darragh Ennis, modern music is where his general knowledge lets him down. \u201cI stopped listening to music 20 years so anything pre-2000s I\u2019m fine. Anything after that I\u2019m very sketchy.\u201d<\/p>\n
He adds: \u201cA lot of the sort of pop culture things I\u2019m no good on, you know, reality TV, soaps, things like that because I just don\u2019t watch them so that\u2019s Jenny\u2019s thing, I leave that to Jenny [Ryan].\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Issa Schultz says while he can tackle history, geography, literature and science, he\u2019s \u201cnot very good\u201d at sports or UK-related trivia. \u201cI think there was a question about TOWIE on this series and I just tuned out. I know what TOWIE is but I\u2019m not going to know the answer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Take your own ability into consideration when choosing how many Chasers to face<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As much as we\u2019d all like to say we\u2019ve taken on all six Chasers, sometimes you have to assess whether that\u2019s actually a wise option for you.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve got to take your own ability into consideration as well, players,\u201d Walsh says. \u201cBecause if you\u2019re not good under pressure and you\u2019re just having questions fired at you, you\u2019ve got to think how many can I afford to get wrong.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I\u2019m gonna get all of them right, it\u2019s fine. But if I miss a question or I panic, then I start getting one wrong and then you\u2019re bang in trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n
