While the third book in the series, An Offer from a Gentleman<\/a>, told second son Benedict\u2019s story, it has now been confirmed that season 3 of the hit drama will follow Penelope and Colin\u2019s story.<\/p>\n This means actors Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton will take the lead in the new season, with Coughlan announcing the news on her Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cLike Lady Whistledown I\u2019ve been keeping quite a big secret for quite a long time\u2026 but I can finally tell you that @bridgertonnetflix Season Three is Colin and Penelope\u2019s Story\u201d.<\/p>\n Penelope and Colin\u2019s romance was originally told in the fourth of Julia Quinn\u2019s novels, Romancing Mister Bridgerton<\/a>. However, Coughlan confirmed to Netflix Tudum<\/a> that the change was made after discussions between herself, Newton and incoming showrunner Jess Brownell<\/a>.<\/p>\n Coughlan said: \u201cI feel like if you see Penelope fawning over this boy for another season, you\u2019ll be like, \u2018Get it together! Come on, move on and get over it\u2019. Jess has talked to Luke and I through the season, and I think people are going to be really <\/i>obsessed.
