Doctor Who<\/a> fans have been spoilt these past couple of weeks, first with the announcement of Ncuti Gatwa\u2019s new Doctor<\/a> and now with the confirmed returns of David Tennant and Catherine Tate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, this of course doesn\u2019t mean fans of the show are going to stop wanting. After all, we are heading into an anniversary year in 2023, celebrations of which are famous for multi-Doctor stories.<\/p>\n

The 50th anniversary saw the returns of David Tennant and Tom Baker to the show, with Paul McGann also filming a mini-episode<\/a> featuring his regeneration and the other Doctors all getting in on the fun in The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, there are already calls for more returns to be announced for next year\u2019s 60th, with one fan saying on Twitter<\/a> that they would like to see the \u201c8th, 11th, 12th, 7th doctors\u201d back, alongside companions \u201cRiver, Amy [and] Rory\u201d.<\/p>\n

Another fan said<\/a> they would like to see McGann return, in order to \u201cmake up for not having a full episode in the 21st century\u201d. However, they also said they would want to see \u201cany other Doctors who want to return\u201d, as \u201cthey still represent the show around the world, so it\u2019d be well deserved\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, others called for Tom Baker, Peter Davison and \u201cas many doctors as possible\u201d.<\/p>

Tennant and Tate\u2019s return statement announced that they will be filming new \u201cscenes that are due to air in 2023\u201d, with exactly how sizeable a role they will play still under wraps.<\/p>\n

Returning showrunner Russell T Davies played up the mysteries surrounding the pair\u2019s role in a statement alongside the announcement yesterday, saying, \u201cThey\u2019re back! And it looks impossible \u2013 first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna, what on earth is happening?\u201d.<\/p>\n
