Davies made the comments during a panel discussion celebrating the show as part of the BFI & Radio Times Television Festival, <\/strong>when he was asked if he\u2019d ever imagined how much the catchphrase would take off.<\/p>\n \u201cNever in a million years did I expect that,\u201d was his response. \u201cI almost cut it in the edit. I literally was thinking, does that work? Does it? Because that was our catchphrase.\u201d<\/p> \u201cYeah, totally,\u201d added Jill Nalder, Davies long\u2019s term friend and the real-life inspiration for the character Jill (Lydia West).<\/p>\n \u201cAnd again, that\u2019s another thing \u2013 we talked about the Pink Palace \u2013 you never know do you? I was amazed people come and say \u2018La!\u2019 to you, and I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n And Davies went on to reveal that he was caught in two minds for a while about whether to use La! or another phrase that was commonly used among his friend group.<\/p>\n \u201cI never knew which one to use, because the other one we always used to say was \u2018What love?\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I wasn\u2019t sure which one, and La! was just funnier in the end, and reminded me of that lovely friend of ours\u2026 it reminded me of someone very specifically.<\/p>\n \u201cBut no, I would never have guessed that, never. You just can\u2019t guess these things at all. And that was actually one of the little signifiers that said, Oh my God, this show is taking off \u2013 and actually it\u2019s since raised over \u00a3500,000 for charities. It\u2019s nuts.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish I\u2019d copyrighted that ba***rd!\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n It\u2019s A Sin is available to stream on All 4.
