RadioTimes.com<\/a>, star Miles Teller talked about that experience \u2013 and the challenges of acting while taking part in such daring aerial stunts.<\/p>\n\u201cWell that\u2019s what [Tom] does for fun, you know,\u201d he said. \u201cBut for us, it was definitely a bootcamp, and it was necessary.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, we flew almost every day for four months leading up to filming, and I would say that we needed every single one of those flights to prepare us to get in a fighter jet and to be able to film and to be able to act like we\u2019re flying these things, because it\u2019s incredibly technical.\u201d<\/p>
Asked about the specific challenges of acting \u2013 and delivering lines \u2013 while in a plane, Teller added: \u201cWell luckily we were able to\u2026 because the sound a lot of the time in the mask wouldn\u2019t sound that great, so you could say kind of gibberish \u2013 you just needed the movement.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then a lot of the time you are saying the lines, but we know at the end of the day we\u2019re going to have to ADR [automated dialogue replacement] it.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut you realise that this, you know, right here [gestures to his eyes<\/em>] \u2013 that\u2019s really all you\u2019re able to act with a lot of the time when you\u2019re in the jet. So it was a bit of a learning curve, I think, to be able to understand the medium that we\u2019re in.\u201d<\/p>\nTeller takes on the role of Rooster \u2013 the son of Anthony Edwards\u2019 beloved character Goose from the original \u2013 and said that while he hadn\u2019t met Edwards before playing the role, he\u2019d love to do so in the future.<\/p>\n
