The BBC has announced plans to stop broadcasting \u201csmaller linear channels\u201d, including CBBC, BBC Four and Radio 4 Extra, after \u201cthe next few years\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n The announcement was made as part of a \u201cblueprint\u201d that the BBC will be using the convert it into build a digital-first public service media organisation. <\/span><\/p>\n In a speech, Director-General Tim Davie said that in order for the BBC to stay relevant \u201cwe need to evolve faster and embrace the huge shifts in the market around us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He said: \u201c<\/span>When I took this job I said that we needed to fight for something important: public service content and services, freely available universally, for the good of all.
