{"id":16117,"date":"2022-05-27T12:55:47","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T10:55:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/?p=1652468"},"modified":"2022-05-27T13:21:09","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T11:21:09","slug":"love-island-2022-duty-of-care-protocols-see-inclusion-training-for-islanders","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/radiotimes\/rss_feed\/love-island-2022-duty-of-care-protocols-see-inclusion-training-for-islanders\/","title":{"rendered":"Love Island 2022 duty of care protocols see inclusion training for islanders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\"><\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Lauren Morris\n                \t\t<\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Friday, 27 May 2022 at 12:00 am<\/p><hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>This year\u2019s <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/entertainment\/reality-tv\/love-island-2022-start-date\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">Love Island<\/a> contestants will be receiving inclusion training ahead of the season, as ITV introduces new duty of care protocols.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcaster has announced that the <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/entertainment\/reality-tv\/love-island-2022-contestant-rumours\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">2022 islanders<\/a> will be offered video training and guidance on \u201cinclusive language around disability, sexuality, race and ethnicity, behaviours and microaggressions\u201d before entering the villa.<\/p>\n<p>This will include conversations chaired by BCOMS (Black Collection of Media in Sport) founder Leon Mann and featuring DEI (Diversity, Equity &amp; Inclusion) consultant Hayley Bennett, disability specialist Shani Dhanda and Good Morning Britain presenter Sean Fletcher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese discussions will tackle topics including inclusive language, behaviour, creating safe spaces and being a good ally,\u201d ITV said.<\/p> <p>The contestants will also have access to the \u201cextensive welfare measures\u201d already in place \u201cbefore, during and after filming\u201d \u2013 but will also watch a video in which former islanders speak about their experiences on the show, how to deal with being filmed 24\/7, interactions with producers on the show, support from family members, social media trolling and adapting to life after the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ITV\u2019s Group Director of Diversity and Inclusion \u2013 Ade Rawcliffe \u2013 said about the changes: \u201cThe world we live in is changing every day, and we want all of our islanders to feel they are part of an inclusive environment in the villa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of our duty of care process, it is also important we play our part in educating our participants to understand and empathise with different perspectives and lived experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"&quot;twitter-tweet&quot;\" data-dnt=\"&quot;true&quot;\"><p lang=\"&quot;en&quot;\" dir=\"&quot;ltr&quot;\">The only love you need in your life this summer ???????????? <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/LoveIsland?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&quot;\">#LoveIsland<\/a> <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/t.co\/ZViyHH2upo&quot;\">pic.twitter.com\/ZViyHH2upo<\/a><\/p>\u2014 The OGs of love ????
