Stranger Things season 5 will feature a time jump to address the main stars\u2019 advancing ages, according to show co-creator Ross Duffer.<\/p>\n

After a nearly three-year hiatus, Stranger Things season 4 returned to Netflix<\/a>\u00a0in May 2022, breaking the streamer\u2019s record for the biggest-ever premiere weekend for an English-language series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Only six months is said to have passed between seasons 3 and 4, but the characters<\/a> have clearly had significant growth spurts after production of season 4<\/a> was delayed due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Duffer recently shared details on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, explaining that there will most likely be a jump in time between the end of season 4<\/a> and beginning of season 5.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure we will do a time jump,\u201d Ross Duffer told TVLine<\/a>. \u201cIdeally, we\u2019d have shot [seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. So these are all discussions we\u2019re going to have with our writers when we start the room up.<\/p>\n

\u201cBelieve it or not, we\u2019re still working on season 4. We\u2019re trying to finish the final two episodes, they\u2019re so massive.\u201d<\/p>

While the delays for season 4 were frustrating for creators and audiences alike, judging by the length of episodes in season 4<\/a>, the show is certainly trying to make up for lost time.<\/p>\n

While the first three seasons consisted of either eight or nine episodes,\u00a0season 4 is being released in two volumes.<\/p>\n

The first volume, featuring the first seven episodes of the new run, landed on Netflix on 27th May, while the final two episodes will follow in July<\/a>, all of which have pretty hefty runtimes (to say the least!).<\/p>\n

While the first three seasons consisted of episodes with runtimes mostly under an hour, the first eight episodes in Stranger Things season 4 all exceed the hour-long mark, while the finale will provide a whopping two-and-a-half hours of Upside Down goodness.<\/p>\n
