Eurovision has confirmed that it is in talks with the BBC about the UK hosting the song contest in 2023, after Ukraine\u2019s win earlier this year.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said that the contest\u2019s governing board has \u201cwith deep regret\u201d concluded that Ukraine\u2019s public broadcaster, Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (shortened to UA:PBC) will not be able to fulfil the security and operational guarantees required, given Russia\u2019s ongoing war in the country.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the statement said that \u201cin accordance with the rules and to ensure the continuity of the event, the EBU will now begin discussions with the BBC, as this year\u2019s runner up, to potentially host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest in the\nUnited Kingdom\u201d.<\/p>\n

This news comes just over a month after Ukraine\u2019s act, Kalush Orchestra<\/a>, won the contest<\/a>, beating out the UK\u2019s Sam Ryder<\/a> who provided the UK\u2019s best performance on the leaderboard<\/a> in years with his song, Space Man.<\/p>\n
