We all love telly. It\u2019s the backbone to our nation. There\u2019s no problem that can\u2019t be solved by sitting down to watch EastEnders with your mum at 7:30pm, or having a TV dinner with your housemates when Love Island is on. In recent years, we\u2019ve been enjoying the countless streaming services that have cropped up. Who knows how we would\u2019ve entertained ourselves during lockdown if it wasn\u2019t for Tiger King<\/a>?<\/p>\n

Whatever you choose to watch on TV, and however you choose to watch it, it\u2019s important that you have the right TV package for you. It\u2019s worth thinking about what you want to watch on TV and what you can do without.<\/p>\n

For Sky customers \u2014 an already pretty expensive TV package \u2014 you might already be considering this. That\u2019s why the RadioTimes.com<\/strong> team are here to suggest some Sky alternatives which give you a little more bang for your buck.<\/p>\n

British broadcaster Sky provides broadband and television to countless homes across the UK.<\/p>\n

You can start your Sky Signature package from \u00a326 a month<\/a> (a \u00a312 saving on the original \u00a338 monthly cost), with an additional \u00a320 set-up fee and a minimum 18-month contract. This package includes over 300 channels which aren\u2019t available on Freeview, and 500 box sets.<\/p>\n

As a stand-alone package, Sky Signature is a good deal. But things can get a bit pricey.<\/p>\n

You can customise your package with additional channels. For sports fans, there\u2019s Sky Sports for an additional \u00a325 a month<\/a>, Sky Kids<\/a> which will set you back \u00a36 a month for those of you with little ones, and Sky Cinema<\/a> for movie buffs \u2014 an additional \u00a312 a month, down from \u00a319 a month.<\/p>\n

With a Sky TV package, you\u2019ll get a Sky Q box<\/a> as standard. This is a multimedia platform which combines your usual telly with on-demand and catch-up services, like All 4, ITV Hub, and BBC iPlayer, and apps, such as YouTube, Spotify, and Netflix.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an extra \u00a312 per month to watch these services in HD (on a 31-day rolling contract), and an extra \u00a315 a month to watch TV in more than one room (on an 18-month contract) as you\u2019ll need to purchase a Sky Q Mini Box<\/a>. If you want to view videos in a third room, another box will set you back \u00a350. You\u2019re allowed a maximum of four boxes per household.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re already a Sky TV customer, you\u2019ll already be aware that these extras quickly add up. So if you\u2019re thinking about changing providers, here are our best and cheaper alternatives to Sky.<\/p>\n

Unlike some of the Sky TV alternatives, we\u2019re about to show you, Virgin Media doesn\u2019t offer a stand-alone TV-only package. The cheapest is the \u2018Big bundle\u2019: M100 Fibre Broadband, Talk Weekends and 100+ TV channels for \u00a329.99 a month on an 18-month contract, with a \u00a335 set-up fee. For Wi-Fi, TV, and your home phone, 30 quid isn\u2019t a bad deal, especially if you\u2019re looking to move these three things over from Sky.<\/p>\n
