Jennie McAlpine says that her Coronation Street alter ego Fiz Stape\u2019s impending wedding to Phill Whittaker (Jamie Kenna) is \u201cdoomed\u201d.<\/p>\n

Viewers know that Fiz is currently planning her nuptials<\/a> \u2013 but this is soapland, and special occasions rarely go smoothly. That tradition is well and truly followed when, in the lead up to the big day, Phill\u2019s mum Mimi (Margot Leicester) causes chaos \u2013 and then his ex-wife Camilla (Louise Marwood) arrives!<\/p>\n

Speaking about her ongoing storyline, the actress shares all the obstacles in the couple\u2019s way and how that makes Fiz feel.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I think that may have been one of my lines, McAlpine reveals. \u201cIt\u2019s what I said to Evelyn in the pub: \u2018This wedding is doomed,\u2019 because it is.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything is going wrong, and it goes back to her thinking, \u2018Why did I think I deserve this? This nice house, this nice man, and he is nice to me and this lovely wedding\u2026 I should have stuck with Tyrone who cheated on me<\/a>.\u2019 So I think there\u2019s a bit of that there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fiz and Phill are shocked to see his ex-wife, Camilla<\/span><\/figcaption><\/div>Discussing whether Fiz feels insecure over Camilla, the star explains: \u201cYes, because I feel like deep down she\u2019s dead fragile, since Tyrone did this to her.\n

\u201cThere\u2019s an element where she met Phill, he\u2019s asked her out and she thought, \u2018why are you asking me out?\u2019 And he\u2019s told her he loves her and wants to marry her and somewhere at the back of her head, she\u2019s thinking \u2018this can\u2019t be real\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so when his gorgeous, successful ex-wife turns up, she\u2019s thinking, \u2018of course he\u2019ll go back her instead of staying with me\u2019. [Fiz] thinks history will repeat itself and she\u2019ll be left again. It doesn\u2019t help her self-esteem.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just Phill\u2019s connections that could disrupt the wedding, though \u2013 as Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) declares his love for Fiz.<\/p>\n

Explaining what happens, McAlpine says: \u201cIt\u2019s just before the wedding. It\u2019s not a total shock to her when he says that as he\u2019s been making it totally obvious that he\u2019d like it to get back to normal for the past few\u00a0weeks, months.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the timing is pretty lousy, and she still wants to marry Phill.\u201d<\/p>

Despite this attitude, Fiz is left in a bit of a spin on the morning of the wedding, admits McAlpine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn her head she\u2019s just thinking, \u2018La la la, he didn\u2019t say that.\u2019 It\u2019s just a moment of madness. \u2018This wedding is happening, this is what we\u2019re doing, so we\u2019re going for it\u2019. That\u2019s her thought process in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s one final blunder ahead of the pair saying their vows.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, that\u2019s the registry being cancelled on the morning of the wedding, so the wedding really is doomed,\u201d McAlpine explains. \u201cHer eyebrow gets stuck to her cheek, so that\u2019s another sign.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked to expand on what she thinks of the wedding, McAlpine concludes it\u2019s a bit of a disaster! \u201cFiz was saying all those lines, \u2018should we have done this\u2019, \u2018it\u2019s doomed\u2019, \u2018should we have had this big wedding?\u2019 I was thinking no, you shouldn\u2019t!\u201d<\/p>\n
