London\u2019s famous classical music festival is back with an amazing line up of concerts all summer long.<\/p>\n<p>From Friday 15th July to Saturday 10th September, some of the best orchestras and musicians from around world will be performing at the beautiful Royal Albert Hall. Whether you snap up tickets or you tune in to listen on BBC Radio 3 or BBC Sounds, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the wonderful music of the BBC Proms.<\/p>\n<p>Read on to discover the full schedule of classical concerts coming to you from the Royal Albert Hall this summer.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>BBC Proms 2022 schedule<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Friday 15<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 First Night of the Proms 2022<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The legendary First Night of the Proms is always an unmissable celebration of classical music. This year, tune in to hear Verdi\u2019s Requiem performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 16<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 6.30pm \u2013 John Wilson conducts the Sinfonia of London<\/b><\/p>\n<p>John Wilson returns to the Proms to conduct a programme of Vaughan Williams, Huw Watkins, Bax, Walton and Elgar.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 16<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 10.30pm \u2013 Radio 1 Relax at the Proms<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Presented by Radio 1\u2019s Chillest Show host Sian Eleri in celebration of the BBC\u2019s centenary, this late night show features hip-hop and rap artist Kojey Radical and others.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 17<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 Cynthia Erivo \u2013 Legendary Voices<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tony, Grammy and Emmy award-winning Cynthia Erivo performs a programme of show tunes, iconic jazz songs and pop classics.<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday 18<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 Bruckner\u2019s Sixth Symphony<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Join award-winning violist Lawrence Power as he joins the BBC Philharmonic for a performance of Bach, Cassandra Miller and Bruckner.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 19<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7pm \u2013 Vaughan Williams and Tippett \u2013 Full Fourths<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This evening celebrates Vaughan Williams\u2019s 150th anniversary, featuring the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Omer Meir Wellber.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 19<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 10.15pm \u2013 Purcell\u2019s Dido and Aeneas<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tune in to hear the period-instrument ensemble La Nuova Musica in their BBC Proms debut as they perform Prucell\u2019s Dido and Aeneas, featuring the voices of Alice Coote and James Newby.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 20<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 Russian Romance and Icelandic Elements<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In this performance, you\u2019ll hear classical music made famous by the cinema, including Rachmaninov\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 2, as heard in Brief Encounter and The Seven Year Itch, along with other iconic pieces.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday 21<\/b><b>st <\/b><b>July, 7pm \u2013 The Two Scheherazades<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An evening centred around the sweeping, romantic Scheherazades by Ravel and Rimsky-Korsakov.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday 22<\/b><b>nd <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 Music for Royal Occasions<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The theme of this performance is classical music and the royal family. Tune in for a programme that includes Handel, Elgar, Britten, Vaughan Williams and more.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 23<\/b><b>rd <\/b><b>July, 11am and 3pm \u2013 A Journey into the Ocean<\/b><\/p>\n<p>CBeebies presents an underwater-themed family friendly show for children.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 24<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 6.30pm \u2013 Ethel Smyth\u2019s The Wreckers<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A semi-staged production of Smyth\u2019s larger-than-life opera The Wreckers, featuring the Glyndebourne Festival Opera.<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday 25<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0July, 7.30pm \u2013 Kazuki Yamada conducts the CBSO<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Join the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for the romantic Rachmaninov Symphony No. 2.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 26<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0July, 7.30pm \u2013 Tchaikovsky\u2019s Fourth Symphony<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A dramatic programme filled with Bernstein\u2019s Candide overture and Tchaikovsky\u2019s sweeping Symphony No. 4, featuring the Swedish violinist Johan Dalene.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 27<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7pm \u2013 Sea Sketches<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This evening is an ode to the sea, featuring inspired pieces by Carwithen, G. Williams and Vaughan Williams, sung by Elizabeth Llewellyn and Andrew Foster-Williams.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday 28<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 Brahms\u2019s A German Requiem<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Featuring Jennifer Walshe\u2019s The Site of an Investigation, an original piece that explores \u2018the psychedelia of everyday life\u2019, and Brahms\u2019s melancholy A German Requiem.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday 29<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 Shostakovich\u2019s Fifth Symphony<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This evening\u2019s programme contains Brucker\u2019s String Quartet and Shostakovich\u2019s moving Symphony No. 5 in D minor. You\u2019ll also hear a new percussion piece by Canadian Nicole Liz\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 30<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 Puccini\u2019s Il tabarro<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A concert performance of Puccini\u2019s romantic, Parisian-set Il tabarro, starring George Gagnidze, Natalya Romaniw and conducted by Sir Mark Elder.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 31<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0July, 11am \u2013 Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A presentation from the new Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra, comprised of recently refugees Ukrainian musicians, this performance features Chopin, Beethoven and Brahms.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 31<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>July, 7.30pm \u2013 Stravinsky\u2019s The Rite of Spring<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The classic, evocative Rite of Spring is presented with Tom Borrow on the piano and Martyn Brabbins conducting.<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday 1<\/b><b>st <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Gaming Prom \u2013\u00a0From 8-Bit to Infinity<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A tribute to the world of gaming, this Proms performance features famous pieces from games like Kingdom Hearts, Shadow of the Colossus and the Battlefield franchise.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 2<\/b><b>nd <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Beethoven\u2019s Fifth Symphony from Memory<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In a unique listening experience, conductor Nicholas Collon presents Beethoven\u2019s famous Fifth Symphony played entirely from memory.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 3<\/b><b>rd<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 11am \u2013 Relaxed Prom \u2013 Beethoven\u2019s Fifth<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Another opportunity to hear Nicholas Collon\u2019s presentation of Beethoven\u2019s Fifth from memory in a more relaxed environment.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 3<\/b><b>rd <\/b><b>August, 7pm \u2013 Ryan Bancroft conducts Mahler\u2019s Fourth Symphony<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This Prom features modern composer Caroline Show, a Romantic Mendelssohn violin concerto and Mahler\u2019s Fourth Symphony.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday 4<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Shostakovich\u2019s Lash Symphony and a Concerto for Theremin<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The theme for this evening is geography and identity as John Storg\u00e5rds conducts a shamanic piece by Kaija Saariaho along with Shostakovich\u2019s stirring 15th Symphony.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday 5<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Semyon Bychkov and the Lab\u00e8que sisters<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An evening of music from the Second World War, played by sister pianists Katia and Marielle Lab\u00e8que, this programme features a new piece by Julian Anderson,\u00a0a concerto by Martin\u016f and Rachmaninov\u2019s Symphonic Dances.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 6<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 7.30pm \u2013 NYOGB plays Elfman, Gershwin and Ravel<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain presents a programme of music from the stage and screen, featuring Danny Elfman\u2019s Wunderkammer, Gershwin\u2019s Rhapsody in Blue and Ravel\u2019s Daphnis and Chloe.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 7<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 3pm \u2013 Leif Ove Andsnes \u2013 Mozart Momentum 1<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Three iconic pieces by Mozart are presented by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and pianist Leif Ove Andsnes.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 7<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Leif Ove Andsnes \u2013 Mozart Momentum 2<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Leif Ove Andsnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra return for a long programme of Mozart, featuring soprano Christiane Karg.<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday 8<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7pm \u2013 The Tredegar Band joins BBC Now<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Described as a \u201cmusical fever-dream\u201d, Berlioz\u2019s Symphony fantastique will transport you out of this world and into the realm of fantasy. Featuring the Tredegar Band and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 9<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 7pm \u2013 Strauss\u2019s Four Last Songs and other Romantics<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Chief Conductor of the Ulster Orchestra, Daniele Rustioni conducts a dramatic, sensual evening of Wagner, Strauss, Mahler and Schumann.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 9<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 10.15pm \u2013 Late Night Prom \u2013 the Tredegar Band<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The world famous Tredegar Band presents an evening of brassy fan favourites, including Strauss, Vaughan Williams, Philip Wilby and more.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 10<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Holst\u2019s The Planets<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A mystical, out-of-this-world evening featuring Strauss, Matthew Kaner and the famous, ethereal The Planets by Holst.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday 11<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Thorvaldsdottir, Elgar and Sibelius<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The soulful Cello Concerto by Elgar is paired with the mournful Second Symphony of Sibelius. Also featuring the world premiere of Anna Thorvaldsdottir\u2019s ARCHORA.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday 12<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Yuja Wang with the Oslo Philharmonic and Klaus M\u00e4kel\u00e4<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An evening of high drama featuring the bold Piano Concerto No. 1 by Liszt and the soaring, pulsing Ein Heldenleben by Strauss, conducted by Klaus M\u00e4kel\u00e4 and featuring Yuja Wang on piano.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 13<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Marin Alsop conducts the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The unforgettable Seventh Symphony by Dvo\u0159\u00e1k is played by the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Marin Alsop.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 14<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 11am \u2013 Haydn, Vaughan Williams, Kaija Saariaho and Beethoven<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Another evening celebrating the 150th anniversary of Vaughan Williams, this programme features Haydn, Williams, Kaija Saariaho and Beethoven. Featuring oboist Nicholas Daniel and violinist Maria W\u0142oszczowska.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 14<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Tchaikovsky, Missy Mazzoli and Prokofiev<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Philharmonic Orchestra comes to the Proms with their new Principal Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali for a programme of ballet classics, including Tchaikovsky\u2019s Swan Lake and Prokofiev\u2019s Romeo and Juliet.<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday 15<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Mark-Anthony Turnage, Vaughan Williams and Elgar<\/b><\/p>\n<p>English music takes centre stage as soloist Constantin Hartwig takes on Vaughan Williams\u2019s Tuba Concerto.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 16<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Vasily Petrenko conducts the RPO<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Conductor Vasily Petrenko joins the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for an evening of Copland, Walker and Prokofiev, featuring Peter Moore on the trombone.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 17<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 7.30pm \u2013 Beethoven\u2019s First Piano Concerto with Behzod Abduraimov<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Get swept up in an evening of waltzes by Ravel, Beethoven and Nielsen, played by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Chief Conductor Thomas Dausgaard.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday 18<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 7.30pm \u2013 Sibelius, Beethoven and Nielsen<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Conductor Thomas Dausgaard joins the BBC Scottish Symphony again for a evening of Sibelius, Beethoven and Nielsen.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday 19<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7pm \u2013 Handel\u2019s Solomon<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The English Concert, a group who specialise in early music, take on Handel\u2019s choral work Soloman. Featuring Iestyn Dates, Jo\u00e9lle Harvey and the BBC Singers.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 20<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Ethel Smyth\u2019s Mass in D major<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Join conductor Sakari Oramo for a presentation of Debussy\u2019s atmospheric Nocturnes and Ethel Symth\u2019s contrasting, sweeping Mass in D major.<\/p> <p><b>Sunday 21<\/b><b>st <\/b><b>August, 11.30am \u2013 Amjad Ali Khan \u2013 Sarod Master<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Explore Indian classical music with Amjad Ali Khan and his sons, Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, for a presentation of the incredible instrument the sarod.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 21<\/b><b>st <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cologne\u2019s WDR Symphony Orchestra comes to the Proms with a programme of Mendelssohn, Dvo\u0159\u00e1k and Brahms.<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday 22<\/b><b>nd <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Aretha Franklin \u2013 Queen of Soul<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An unmissable evening at the Proms, the Jules Buckley Orchestra is joined by vocalist Shel\u00e9a for a tribute to the \u201cQueen of Soul\u201d Aretha Franklin.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 23r<\/b><b>d <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Zubin Mehta conducts the Australian World Orchestra<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Zubin Mehta conducts the Australian World Orchestra in a programme of Webern, Debussy and Brahms, featuring soprano Siobhan Stagg.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 24<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 7pm \u2013 Rattle conducts Mahler\u2019s \u2018Resurrection\u2019 Symphony\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The big and bold Second Symphony of Mahler is contrasted with Sir Harrison Birtwistle\u2019s piece for wind, brass and percussion, Donum Simoni MMXVIII. Conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and featuring Louise Alder, Dame Sarah Connoly and the CBSO Chorus.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 24th August, 10.15pm \u2013\u00a0The Sixteen sings Tallis\u2019s\u00a0Spem in alium<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Professional chamber choir The Sixteen offers a late-night programme of choral music from the Renaissance to today.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday 25<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Lalo, Brahms and Franck<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An organ Symphony by largely underrated composer\u00a0C\u00e9sar Franck. Featuring the 21-year-old violinist Daniel Lozakovich.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday 26<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra with Pekka Kuusisto<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Vaughan Williams\u2019 famous The Lark Ascending is presented alongside Sibelius and Debussy for a dreamy, calming evening. Conducted by Proms favourite Nicholas Collon.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 27<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 2pm and 7.30pm \u2013 Earth Prom with Chris Packham<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In celebration of the planet, this Prom features the music and visuals from the BBC\u2019s Natural History Unit, including music by Hans Zimmer and George Fenton.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 28<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 11.30am \u2013 Organ Recital \u2013 Nathan Laube<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An organ recital featuring pieces by Wagner, Franck, Alkan and Liszt, played by soloist Nathan Laube.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 28<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 7.30pm \u2013 The South African Jazz Songbook<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Celebrate music from South Africa as the Proms welcomes the Metropole Orkest. Featuring vocalist Siyabonga Mthembu and Sons of Kemet tuba player Theon Cross.<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday 29<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0August, 7.30pm \u2013 Bach\u2019s Mass in B minor with the OAE<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Conductor John Butt returns to the Proms to present \u201cone of the greatest sacred works in the repertoire\u201d, Bach\u2019s Mass in B minor.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday 30<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>August, 1pm \u2013 Public Service Broadcasting \u2013 This New Noise<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The famous London band Public Service Broadcasting joins the BBC Symphony Orchestra and conductor Jules Buckley for This New Noice, an album-length performance in celebration of the BBC\u2019s centenary.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 31<\/b><b>st <\/b><b>August, 7.30pm \u2013 Elgar\u2019s The Dream of Gerontius<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An evening of expansive choral music by Elgar. The Hall\u00e9 Choir,\u00a0London Philharmonic Choir and\u00a0London Philharmonic Orchestra join together in this Prom.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday 1<\/b><b>st <\/b><b>September, 7.30pm \u2013 BBC Open Music Prom<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This Open Prom offers up a programme of contrasting music on the theme of dreams and memory. Featuring Debussy, Ginastera and Bill Withers.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday 2<\/b><b>nd <\/b><b>September, 7.30pm \u2013 Chineke! Performs Beethoven\u2019s Ninth Symphony<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Chineke! Orchestra, Europe\u2019s majority Black and ethnically diverse orchestra, returns to the Proms for an evening of Beethoven\u2019s Ninth Symphony and George Walker.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 3<\/b><b>rd <\/b><b>September, 3pm &amp; 8pm \u2013 Proms and\u00a0the ENO at\u00a0Printworks London: Glass Handel<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This piece of performance art meets opera is a combination of Philip Glass and Handel.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 3<\/b><b>rd<\/b><b>\u00a0September, 7pm \u2013 Berliner Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko \u2013 Mahler\u2019s Seventh<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Berliner Philharmoniker presents Mahler\u2019s eerie and arresting Seventh Symphony, known for its \u2018night music\u2019 movements.<\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday 3<\/b><b>rd <\/b><b>September, 10.15pm \u2013 Marius Neset and the London Sinfonietta<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Norwegian jazz saxophonist Marius Neset comes to the Proms for a late-night set \u2013 find out why his music has been called a\u00a0\u2018voracious reinvention of jazz\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 4<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>September, 11.30am \u2013 Sir Andr\u00e1s Schiff plays Beethoven\u2019s piano sonatas<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The world-famous pianist Sir Andr\u00e1s Schiff presents a solo concert of three Beethoven sonatas.<\/p>\n<p><b>Sunday 4<\/b><b>th<\/b><b>\u00a0September, 7.30pm \u2013 Berliner Philharmoniker plays Schnittke and Shostakovich<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Join the Berliner Philharmoniker for an evening of Soviet music by Schnittke and Shostakovich.
