The Undeclared War star Hannah Khalique-Brown has discussed the season premiere\u2019s \u201ctoo good to be true\u201d ending, after her character Saara \u2013 an intern at GCHQ \u2013 apparently managed to avert a major cyberattack.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Khalique-Brown said that by the end of the first episode, Saara is \u201chated\u201d by the rest of her department at GCHQ \u2013\u00a0but added that her character is far more focussed on and \u201ctraumatised\u201d by the loss of her late father.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s gone from being this golden girl, to being hated by everyone in her department, because she showed them up basically, towards the end of the episode,\u201d Khalique-Brown explained.<\/p>

\u201cI remember it [the episode ending] just being about her feelings. [She\u2019s] so alone. I think there was a line [in the script], \u2018She\u2019s never been more alone\u2019, or something like that. So it\u2019s funny, she\u2019s kind of almost insulated from a lot of those bigger plot points, because the interior is what takes over her.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the episode one ending, Khalique-Brown added: \u201cYeah, so a lot of the time you do get these \u2018too good to be true\u2019 moments [in the script], but so much of the time, especially at the end of the day on episode one \u2013 it\u2019s basically [been] a four day bender of work that she\u2019s [Saara has] been on, with severe trauma at every point.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s just absolutely alone and devastated and traumatised, and lost, I think, and that\u2019s all that I could really think about when I was doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n
