The final two episodes of Stranger Things 4<\/a> were full of thrills, chills and (Molotov) spills \u2013 and in the epic clash with Vecna, it\u2019s no surprise that not every character made it out alive.<\/p>\n

However, one character\u2019s death in particular has already set fans grieving, rueing the day that series creators the Duffer Brothers took them away despite their seriously epic Upside-Down send-off.<\/p>\n

We caught up with said actor \u2013 who says they feel \u201cvery, very lucky\u201d to have inspired such devotion \u2013 to see what they made of the reaction, and their journey in Stranger Things 4 as a whole.<\/p>\n

Look away now if you haven\u2019t finished the series, as spoilers are coming\u2026<\/p>

Still here? Then you\u2019ll know that the world is in mourning for Eddie Munson, whose heroics facing off with Demobats in the finale ended with him paying the ultimate price \u2013 and fans getting pretty upset about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think, you know, we don\u2019t want to upset anyone!\u201d Joseph Quinn, who plays Eddie, told RadioTimes.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut yeah, I think I got a text from the Duffers a little couple of weeks ago saying that they were bracing themselves for something.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m delighted that people have responded in the way that they have done to Eddie, so if they\u2019re missing him, then that\u2019s a lovely thing. It feels very gratifying.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s fair to say that Eddie was a bit of an unexpected hit when he was introduced a few weeks ago in Stranger Things 4\u2019s opening episodes, charming fans with his outsider schtick and Quinn\u2019s natural charisma as the hard-rockin\u2019 D\u2019n\u2019D dungeon master was accused of a murder he didn\u2019t commit.<\/p>\n

Of course, we should have known not to get too attached \u2013 remember Barb, Bob and Alexei? \u2013 but Quinn insists that Eddie\u2019s journey is worth the sad ending.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a great beginning, there\u2019s a great middle and a great end for the character,\u201d he told us.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd as an actor you want characters with those kinds of arcs. So whilst it would have been great to come back for another season and get together with all those lovely people again, I think it was a brilliantly realised ending for a brilliantly written character.\u201d<\/p>\n

Certainly, the content of Eddie\u2019s final scenes \u2013 which included a Metallica guitar solo on the roof of a caravan in the Upside Down, followed by a vicious last stand against the Demobats \u2013 gave Quinn something to remember.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so thrilling to do on the day,\u201d he recalled. \u201cMe and Gaten [Matarazzo, who plays Dustin] were on top of on top of the caravan in the middle of the Upside-Down playing Metallica. And it was great fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd also, I think the timing of it was brilliant. For the whole crew, it felt like the first time that people had been in a live music kind of situation since the pandemic, so it was a joyous celebration on the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a fantastic conclusion to the character and yeah, I feel very very lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n

And to those sad, mourning fans, Quinn has nothing but gratitude.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel incredibly honoured to be a part of the show that has a fanbase as devoted as this one,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt comes around once in a career really, or kind of once in a generation \u2013 something that touches so many people\u2019s hearts of all different generations. It\u2019s a very rare thing to be a part of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just feel extremely lucky,\u201d he repeated. \u201cThank you for having him while he was here.\u201d<\/p>\n
