Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) explained at the very beginning of the series that Will (Noah Schnapp) was spending most of his time on the mystery artwork, but we never actually got a glimpse of what he was working on \u2013 at least not until the penultimate episode.<\/p>
In the first part of season four\u2019s second volume, Will showed the painting to Mike (Finn Wolfhard) during a heart-to-heart discussion, revealing it to be of their original Dungeons & Dragons group \u2014 Mike, Will, Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) <\/span>and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo)<\/span>.<\/p>\n In the painting, the quartet are doing battle with a three-headed dragon while playing as their fantasy characters, with Mike leading the assault on their fire-breathing enemy.<\/p>\n Will tells Mike that Eleven had commissioned the piece and told him exactly what to draw \u2013 but we now know that isn\u2019t the case, which makes Mike\u2019s coat of arms, which displays a heart, all the more poignant.<\/p>\n \u201cSee how you\u2019re leading us here,\u201d Will explains. \u201cYou\u2019re guiding the whole party, inspiring us. That\u2019s what you do. \u201cThat\u2019s what holds this whole party together\u2026 heart.
