However, in an interview featured in this week\u2019s Radio Times magazine<\/strong>, he has admitted that he is \u201cquietly contemplating\u201d retiring from his work in TV, saying that he suspects it won\u2019t be \u201cfar off\u201d.<\/p>\n When asked in the interview whether he\u2019d contemplated a change of lifestyle, May admitted: \u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s because I had a nice time in Italy, or because I\u2019m getting older, or because I\u2019m sick of admin. A very close friend of mine died a few weeks ago. He retired early, because he\u2019d always had this fear that his family isn\u2019t very long-lived, and he wanted to swap possessions for experiences and knowledge.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s what he started doing, but unfortunately he got cancer and it killed him. It was quite interesting thinking about that after he\u2019d gone because it takes a certain amount of courage to say, \u2018No, I don\u2019t want to telegraph my success and my sophistication. I simply want to have a nice life and contemplate the mystery and wonder of God\u2019s creation.’\u201d<\/p>\n When further asked if he plans to retire and sell off his cars, May said: \u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019m quietly contemplating, and I suspect it\u2019s not far off.\u201d<\/p>\n May\u2019s latest series, Our Man in Italy, will release on Amazon Prime Video later this month, and acts as a follow-up to 2020 series James May: Our Man in Japan.<\/p>\n Meanwhile one of May\u2019s co-presenters on The Grand Tour, Richard Hammond, told RadioTimes.com<\/a> exclusively that the team had finished filming the show\u2019s latest special<\/a> earlier this year, and that they were getting ready to film another.<\/p> He said: \u201cWe\u2019ve already filmed one \u2013 we\u2019re not long back from that.
