RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Martin-Green addressed the backlash that the show has received from certain corners of the fandom, admitting that Discovery is \u201cvery different from other iterations\u201d of Trek.<\/p>\n\u201cThe fanbase for the franchise as a whole and the fanbase for Discovery in particular is a highly intellectual, loyal crowd,\u201d she began. \u201cThese are very intelligent people who have such a depth of passion and heart and loyalty to the franchise, so they have an ownership; they\u2019ve carried it with them for years and it\u2019s meant a lot to them.<\/p>
\u201cSo, because of that, their voices deserve to be heard and we appreciate their voices, even if they are in disagreement with us. Even if they\u2019re criticising, it\u2019s like, \u2018I get where you\u2019re coming from though \u2013 it\u2019s because this means a lot to you\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Martin-Green added that the Discovery team are sticking to their charted course, saying that \u201cwe\u2019ve really found ourselves\u201d and hailing the show\u2019s constant reinvention as its unique strength.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard to be different with something like this. It was hard for us to be different but I think we\u2019ve really found ourselves and I think our fanbase has really found their relationship with us as well at this point,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
