With another set of cases cracked, the third season of detective show McDonald & Dodds<\/a> has now come to an end on ITV.<\/p>\n

This season saw the titular team investigate Formula 1 teams, mediums and social media influencers, but with the series currently only having eight episodes in total, we\u2019re sure there\u2019s still plenty more cases for the team to look into.<\/p>\n

The drama once again starred Jason Watkins and Tala Gouveia, with the latter recently suggesting a storyline for a film spin-off<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gouveia said: \u201cSometimes we make suggestions for storylines \u2013 Jason and I are both very keen on a holiday film. McDonald loves Tenerife, so we think it would be great to have a film set there, especially as we film in the winter. I can see Dodds in his Bermuda shorts. I think it would be such a great opportunity for loads of comedy. That\u2019s my pitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

The series hasn\u2019t been officially renewed just yet, but as the third season has just come to an end it isn\u2019t necessarily anything to worry about.<\/p>\n

Without an official recommission for the show it\u2019s hard to say just when a fourth season would arrive on our screens.<\/p>\n

However, if the show is renewed for more soon then we could expect the series to follow a similar release pattern to previous seasons, meaning that we could expect season 4 in just over a year\u2019s time. Don\u2019t mark your calendars just yet, but we\u2019d anticipate a release around summer 2023.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t yet have a confirmed cast list for McDonald & Dodds season 4 but if it was to return then Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins<\/a> would surely have to return as the titular team. We would also expect to see other members of the police department back, including Claire Skinner as Chief Superintendent Ormond.<\/p>\n
