The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power<\/a>, one of the most highly anticipated shows of this year, has just dropped its first full trailer following a teaser in February \u2013\u00a0and it looks magnificent.<\/p>\n

The show, which is set to launch on Amazon Prime Video<\/a> in September, is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and charts major events from Middle Earth\u2019s Second Age, as originally written by JRR Tolkien.<\/p>\n

Amazon hasn\u2019t confirmed the show\u2019s budget, but it is reported that the first season cost a whopping $462 million<\/a>. Based on this first trailer, you can see all that money up on screen with breathtaking visuals, teases of exciting battle sequences and the expansive landscapes we\u2019ve come to expect from the Lord of the Rings franchise.<\/p>\n

You can watch the full trailer right here now.<\/p>\n\n<p>The character we spend the most time with throughout the trailer is a young Galadriel, originally played by Cate Blanchett in Peter Jackson\u2019s films but played here by Morfydd Clark.<\/p>\n<p>In one exchange, she can be seen telling Robert Aramayo\u2019s Elrond that \u201cthe enemy is still out there, the question now is where.\u201d When he protests that \u201cit is over\u201d, she replies \u201cYou have not seen what I have seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the trailer we see Hobbits, Dwarves and a warning from Benjamin Walker\u2019s High King Gil-galad that \u201cdarkness will march over the face of the Earth,\u201d bringing about the end of \u201call peoples\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The trailer also sees one character suggest that this is \u201cthe beginning of a new era\u201d, and with <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/fantasy\/lord-of-the-rings-amazon-5-seasons-newsupdate\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">five seasons of the show planned out<\/a>, that certainly seems to be likely.<\/p> <p>One of the show\u2019s showrunner\u2019s, JD Payne, recently revealed to <a href=\"\/\/www.empireonline.com\/tv\/news\/lord-of-the-rings-power-five-seasons-fully-planned-out-exclusive\/"\" target=\""_blank"\" rel=\""noopener" noopener noreferrer\">Empire<\/a> that the team \u201ceven know what our final shot of the last episode is going to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said. \u201cThe rights that Amazon bought were for a 50-hour show. They knew from the beginning that was the size of the canvas \u2013 this was a big story with a clear beginning, middle and end.
