After Chadwick Boseman, who played Black Panther\u2019s central character T\u2019Challa, died from colon cancer in August 2020, the future of the franchise was left up in the air, with questions swirling about how the story would move on without its chief.<\/p>\n

However, from the look of the latest footage from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, debuted as part of Disney\u2019s presentation at CinemaCon 2022, it looks like Marvel Studios has found a solution.<\/p>\n

In December 2020 it was announced that the role of T\u2019Challa would not be recast.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo much of the comics and that first movie is the world of Wakanda,\u201d producer Kevin Feige told\u00a0<\/span>Deadline<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cWakanda is a place to further explore with characters and different subcultures. This was always and initially the primary focus of the next story.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not going to have a CG Chadwick and we\u2019re not recasting T\u2019Challa. Ryan Coogler is working very hard right now on the script with all the respect and love and genius that he has, which gives us great solace, so it was always about furthering the mythology and the inspiration of Wakanda.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marvel has also confirmed the returns of Winston Duke as M\u2019Baku and Angela Bassett as Ramonda, while Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You) joins as a new cast member.<\/p>\n

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to be released in cinemas on November 11, 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n
The film was previously scheduled for release in May 2022 before being pushed back to July 2022 until it was pushed back once again.<\/p>\n
Filming on the sequel began on June 29, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia and is expected to continue into next year.<\/p>\n
Actress Letitia Wright was forced to pause her filming when she suffered an accident on-set and had to be hospitalized and is expected to resume filming in 2022.<\/p>\n
A representative for Wright told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in November: \u201cLetitia has been recovering in London since September from injuries sustained on the set of Black Panther 2 and is looking forward to returning to work early 2022.<\/p>\n

Boseman is obviously a huge loss from the cast of any sequel, and it\u2019s now been confirmed he will not be replaced nor will he be featured through use of archive footage or CGI (such as Carrie Fisher in The Rise of Skywalker).<\/p>\n
Lupita Nyong\u2019o will return as T\u2019Challa\u2019s love interest and War Dog spy Nakia, while The Walking Dead legend Danai Guriria will return as the leader of the Dora Milaje, Okoye.<\/p>\n
