The four-part series, created by Neighbours<\/a>\u2019 Jason Herbison, is a co-production between Channel 5 and Australian companies Network 10 and Fremantle Australia, with Shameless star Ciar\u00e1n Griffiths and Outlander<\/a>\u2019s David Berry taking on roles.<\/p>\n Due to be filmed in Melbourne, Riptide follows recently-married Alison (Joyner) as she deals with the sudden disappearance of her new Australian surfer husband.<\/p>\n \u201cDid he get caught in a dangerous riptide \u2013\u00a0or is there more to his disappearance than meets the eye?\u201d Channel 5 teases.<\/p>\n Rounding out the cast of the upcoming drama is The Unusual Suspects\u2019 Peter O\u2019Brien, Wentworth\u2019s Ally Fowler, Mustangs FC\u2019s Pia Miranda, Neighbours star Benny Turland, Heartbreak High\u2019s Asher Yasbincek and Safe Harbour\u2019s Yazeed Dahar.<\/p>\n In a statement, Joyner said she was \u201creally excited to be working with the fantastic teams\u201d on the show.<\/p>\n \u201c[Alison] is such a warm and layered character\u00a0whose world is turned upside down, just when it seemed like her life was finally coming together,\u201d she said. \u201cI am also thrilled to be filming in the fabulous city of Melbourne and surrounding countryside, an area that I have always wanted to explore.\u201d<\/p> Filming on Riptide is expected to begin this month in Victoria, with Channel 5 airing the show later in the year, and is one of two shows recently commissioned by the broadcaster and Network 10.<\/p>\n Joyner is best known for playing Tanya Branning on EastEnders between 2006 and 2018 before appearing in Mount Pleasant, Ackley Bridge<\/a>, Shakespeare & Hathaway, Hang Ups and Stay Close.<\/p>\n Riptide will air on Channel 5 later this year.
