The show follows salon-owner and single mum Jodie (Toussaint-White) whose life is turned upside down when she becomes a key witness to a murder, perpetrated by a gang leader \u2013 and the gang in question\u00a0will stop at nothing to silence her.<\/p>\n
Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a><\/strong>, the Bodyguard star said that she \u201cdidn\u2019t know\u201d the twist was coming.<\/p>\n **WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Witness No. 3 finale**<\/strong><\/p>\n In the show\u2019s final episode, Detective Whelan was finally unmasked as the corrupt cop who had been feeding the gang information about Jodie, but\u00a0Toussaint-White revealed she previously believed that PC Ivan Barkas (played by Sion Daniel Young) was the informant, and not Whelan (Clare Dunne).<\/p>\n \u201cNo I didn\u2019t know it was coming,\u201d she revealed. \u201cBecause we only had the first two scripts for ages \u2013\u00a0we were fighting to get the last scripts.<\/p> \u201cI didn\u2019t know it was coming and\u2026 I remember thinking, after episode two, I remember going, \u2018Oh, my goodness it\u2019s Ivan [who\u2019s the informant]\u2019. And going, \u2018How could you do this to her?\u2019 and being stuck on that for ages.<\/p>\n \u201cI asked the director, I was just like, \u2018Is it him? Did he do it?\u2019 And so I had no idea, as an actress, and then, you know, just playing the character, of course its complete shock.<\/p>\n \u201cThis woman [Whelan] is the one who\u2019s been on her side \u2026 for the whole process. This is one [person] who\u2019s been helping her seemingly and protecting her\u2026 It\u2019s only in the last few scenes where we realise it\u2019s Whelan and the penny drops for Jodie, and I think that is a shocking moment for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n The show\u2019s final scene also saw Jodie decide not to identify young gang member Po in a police line-up, after learning more about him and his difficult upbringing during the penultimate episode.<\/p>\n \u201cI think obviously, being a mother to a young boy \u2013\u00a0how would she [Jodie] feel if her son got into this situation? How would she feel if she knew that her son was backed up against a wall and had no other way out?
