There have been a lot of rumours swirling around recently that the Russo brothers might be returning to the MCU to helm a project based on the Secret Wars comics \u2013 but it looks like fans shouldn\u2019t get too excited just yet.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a> to promote their new Netflix<\/a> film The Gray Man<\/a>, the brothers \u2013 who directed four MCU flicks including both Avengers: Infinity War<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Avengers: Endgame<\/a> \u2013 claimed that they had \u201cmoved on\u201d from the franchise.<\/p>

Asked if they might have some sort of consulting role on future Captain America films given they were originally involved in the casting of Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Joe Russo gave a fairly straightforward answer.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, we\u2019ve moved on \u2013 you know, we\u2019re now focused on our company AGBO. Marvel\u2019s doing Marvel. We\u2019re not involved in any way. But you know, we\u2019re fans and you know, we\u2019ll turn out for every movie that they make.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anthony agreed, and added that the pair were, \u201cBig fans of Anthony Mackie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although they didn\u2019t mention Secret Wars specifically, they appeared pretty clear that their focus is now on projects away from the MCU \u2013 with The Gray Man intended as the first film in a new spy action franchise.<\/p>\n

If there is eventually to be a Russo brothers Secret Wars project then, it probably won\u2019t be for some time yet\u2026<\/p>\n

The Gray Man is currently showing in select UK cinemas and is available to stream globally on Netflix<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
