Coronation Street<\/a> star Bill Fellows says his alter ego Stu Carpenter is left \u201cheartbroken\u201d when his daughter Bridget rejects him in upcoming scenes.<\/p>\n

When Stu revealed to friend Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) that he hadn\u2019t seen his daughter for a number of decades, she made it her mission to track the woman down<\/a> \u2013 despite Yasmeen\u2019s granddaughter Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) warning her that Bridget might have a very good reason for distancing herself from Stu.<\/p>\n

We have yet to learn what caused the family estrangement, but after his initial anger over Yasmeen secretly finding her address, Stu heads to Bridget\u2019s home for a reunion. Unfortunately for him, his arrival does not go down well at all as she sends him away immediately.<\/p>\n

Speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other media about the storyline, Fellows reveals Stu\u2019s reaction. \u201cHe\u2019s heartbroken; he\u2019s absolutely heartbroken I think.<\/p>\n

Stu has grown close to Yasmeen<\/span><\/figcaption><\/div>\u201cIt really gets him down, but who wouldn\u2019t be [down]? Yasmeen gave him confidence. I think on his own devices the fear would have got too much for him and he wouldn\u2019t have taken the leap. But yeah, he\u2019s totally heartbroken.\u201d\n

Asked how Stu is feeling prior to knocking on that door, the actor says: \u201cWhen he walks up to the door [there\u2019s] a lot of fear, he\u2019s frightened of being rejected. But it\u2019s fear and excitement, isn\u2019t it: \u2018It might work out, it might be great!\u2019 He\u2019s willing to take that risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

But that risk just doesn\u2019t pay off, and Fellows admits that Stu was happier when he could live in hope \u2013\u00a0something which is entirely destroyed when a parcel he sends to Bridget is returned and he is subsequently rejected.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of wonderful the faith he has,\u201d Fellows continues. \u201cHe sends these gifts and he doesn\u2019t get anything back. And that\u2019s good enough, [that] at least she might have got it. So when the present comes back with \u2018return to sender\u2019, it\u2019s heartbreaking because he had a little bit of hope that he knew where she was.<\/p>

\u201cBut that\u2019s all smashed because now he has no idea where she lives or anything. He had a possibility, but that possibility was taken away completely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the unsuccessful visit, Stu doesn\u2019t tell Yasmeen what happened.<\/p>\n

When asked why this is, Fellows replies: \u201cNow he\u2019s been rejected and hurt really badly, and maybe understandably so, as we\u2019ll find out later. But ultimately I think he feels \u2018I don\u2019t want to talk about it any more.\u2019 D\u2019you know that awful thing, almost like grief?<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wants to put it in the past now. It\u2019s a way of saying \u2018Can we all just forget it now?\u2019 without losing face and saying he was rejected.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll just have to wait and see whether that\u2019s the end of the road for Stu and his daughter, but there\u2019s also the matter of an explosive secret to deal with.<\/p>\n

Fellows has opened up on his shock over his character\u2019s past<\/a>, but viewers will have to tune in to find out exactly what Stu is hiding.<\/p>\n

Could this be the reason his family have cut him off?<\/p>\n
