\u201cIt\u2019s flattering,\u201d he told RadioTimes.com<\/a>. \u201cYou know, it\u2019s like, I definitely don\u2019t get my hopes up, but it is nice to be in people\u2019s minds in that way. Because I\u2019m such a fan of that genre.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019d always like to [explore]. I\u2019m always interested in playing in those worlds.\u201d<\/p>\n Last year, it was reported that Warner Bros were developing a new Superman movie with\u00a0JJ Abrams and writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, designed for a Black lead actor.<\/p>\n Marvel\u2019s Fantastic Four movie, meanwhile, is set for release on 8th November 2024. John Krasinski played the team\u2019s leader Reed Richards in this year\u2019s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/a>, but since this version of the character was a multiverse variant, it\u2019s unclear if he\u2019ll be reprising the role for the FF\u2019s own film.<\/span><\/p>\n Though not currently an avid comic book reader himself, Harper revealed that he was a fan in his youth and rediscovered many of his favourite characters through recent big-screen outings.<\/p>\n \u201cI went through a phase in, like, middle school, and early high school where I did read some \u2013 then I sort of fell off of it and haven\u2019t really gone back to reading them,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut I do love the Marvel movies \u2013 any sort of superhero movie I love. I\u2019m just a sucker for it. I am the target audience and a huge fan.\u201d<\/p>\n In fact, Harper has even picked out a comic book character he\u2019d most like to play \u2013 and it\u2019s not a hero from either the Marvel or DC folds.<\/p> Instead, he\u2019s interested in portraying ShadowHawk, an antihero from publisher Image Comics who debuted in 1992. \u201cI remember reading Shadowhawk and the thing that hooked me was, in the the first issue that I read, there was another vigilante that was running around the streets and was targeting Black people.<\/p>\n \u201cThe guy was a white supremacist, you know? They had a showdown and I was like, \u2018This is a really cool comic, where you have a Black superhero who is facing down racism.\u2019 That was such an interesting element to just bring right in.
