The actress \u2013 who played teacher Emily Sands in each of the first three seasons \u2013 said that although she had thoroughly enjoyed working on the Netflix hit, her time on the show is now at an end.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not part of the new series. I can\u2019t really talk about why,\u201d she explained to the\u00a0Daily Star Sunday<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cBut I\u2019m so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about\u00a0Sex Education.\u201d<\/p> Thakrar\u2019s revelation comes soon after fellow cast members Tanya Reynolds and Patricia Alison, who played Lily and Ola respectively, announced that they would not be reprising their roles in the Netflix<\/a> series.<\/p>\n Reynolds exclusively revealed to RadioTimes.com<\/a> in July that she wouldn\u2019t be taking part<\/a>, describing her departure as \u201cjust the natural progression of these shows\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not [returning], actually, which is sad, very sad,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you have such big ensemble casts and so many characters, I think you have to let a few older characters go to make way for newer ones, which is absolutely the right thing, the way it should happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Allison announced that she similarly would not be back for more episodes<\/a> during an interview on Capital Xtra Breakfast.<\/p>\n \u201cI won\u2019t be joining the team for season 4,\u201d she said. \u201cI absolutely have loved my time on Sex Education, and I\u2019m so sorry to have to break that to you guys.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been doing it for three years and I\u2019ve loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n The fourth season of Sex Education was officially greenlit by Netflix in September 2021, and despite the aforementioned exits, most of the main cast are expected to return \u2013 including Asa Butterfield as Otis, Emma Mackey as Maeve, and new Doctor Ncuti Gatwa as Eric.<\/p>\n Sex Education seasons 1-3 are streaming now on\u00a0Netflix<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 visit our\u00a0Drama<\/a>\u00a0hub for more news, interviews and features, or find something else to watch with our\u00a0TV Guide<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n The latest issue of Radio Times magazine is on sale now \u2013\u00a0subscribe now<\/a>\u00a0and get the next 12 issues for only \u00a31.
