It is possible that another member of the\u00a0Shetland cast<\/a> could take on the job of filling Jimmy\u2019s boots.\u00a0Alison O\u2019Donnell, who plays DS Alison \u2018Tosh\u2019 McIntosh, and Steven Robertson, who plays DC Sandy Wilson, are top candidates, but we\u2019ll have to wait for the season to air to find out whether they get the job.<\/p>\n In the meantime, the actors revealed the impact of Henshall\u2019s exit. \u201cI am honestly bereft,\u201d O\u2019Donnell said. \u201cHaving the privilege of working so closely with Dougie for all these years was an insane luxury. I\u2019m trying to be grateful for everything we experienced together rather than focussing on the obvious sadness. I\u2019m also incredibly proud of what we achieved together, and I know he is too.\u201d<\/p>\n Robertson added: \u201cI think you always have to respect any actor\u2019s decision when they\u2019re ready to move on. As actors, we do what we do, you hope it\u2019s well received by the audience and if you\u2019ve done enough, you move on. The show is something we\u2019ve all worked very hard on and Dougie must be proud of his characterisation of Perez.<\/p> \u201cOver the years, Perez has changed. The dynamic between him and Duncan has changed \u2013 they\u2019re more like brothers now rather than two very different fathers bringing up Cassie together. It\u2019s like that story has come to a natural conclusion. So I can see why Douglas has decided the time has come to move on.
