One of the previous stars whose return is most clamoured for<\/a> is Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Tennant\u2019s successor who led the show from 2010 to 2013.<\/p>\n Well, now fans have a bit more of a sense of how Smith feels about a return, as he was asked in a recent feature for Rolling Stone UK<\/a> about whether he would ever return to the role. While he seemed open to the idea, he did have some caveats.<\/p>\n Smith said of returning: \u201cMaybe, if it was the right script. I mean, I don\u2019t know if I\u2019ve got too old now. It would have to be really right.\u201d<\/p>\n In the interview, Smith also spoke about Tennant\u2019s return to the show, saying that \u201cit makes sense\u201d because Russell T Davies is back as showrunner, and added, \u201cWhat a Doctor, what an actor, what a bloke\u201d before calling him \u201ca totally seminal Doctor\u201d.<\/p>\n Smith is currently promoting the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon<\/a>, in which he plays Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother of Paddy Considine\u2019s King Viserys.<\/p> He recently said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that he wanted to \u201csubvert\u201d expectations<\/a>\u00a0with his character, as \u201con the page, Daemon could really be one thing\u201d.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cI think there\u2019s a sort of strange, sensitive nature to Daemon and quite a genuine loyalty to him and humanistic qualities that you can peel away and see.\u201d<\/p>\n Doctor Who<\/a> is available to stream on BBC iPlayer<\/a> with episodes of the classic series also available on BritBox \u2013 you can sign up for a 7-day free trial here<\/a>.
