If you have no idea what I\u2019m talking about and spent your Thursday evening away from your TV (how dare you have a life while Love Island is airing?) or your Sky recording cut out the episode\u2019s ending<\/a>, then you missed Hugo Hammond<\/a>\u2018s surprise recoupling speech in which he chose Chloe Burrows<\/a>, slated Toby Aromolaran<\/a> for the way he treated her whilst getting to know new islander Abigail Rawlings<\/a> and hinted that he may actually be romantically interested in Chloe. No, this isn\u2019t a joke.<\/p>\n Hugo \u2013 the villa\u2019s most single pringle, who\u2019s spent the last three weeks batting away the few lovely women actually interested in him \u2013 decided he\u2019d had enough of Toby \u2018no regrets\u2019 Aromolaran\u2019s antics and called the semi-pro footballer out on his behaviour after watching him pick Abigail while a bitter-looking Chloe gave us a good two-minutes of meme-able eye-rolls.<\/p>\n\n \u201cIf I\u2019m being completely honest, [Chloe] doesn\u2019t doesn\u2019t deserve to be treated how she has been this past 24 hours,\u201d Hugo gallantly said, as the islanders\u2019 jaws dropped to the floor.<\/p>\n \u201cI firmly believe that a lot of this \u2018test\u2019 stuff is complete b******t. You deserve someone who\u2019s honest and communicates with you and who knows what could happen. Stranger things have happened. So the girl I would like to couple up with is Chloe.\u201d<\/p>\n This unexpected display of chivalry earned Hugo a \u2018big boy\u2019 from the now-beaming Chloe, dirty glances from the likes of Faye Winter<\/a> and Kaz and a look of simmering rage from Toby, who\u2019s finally been put in his place.<\/p>\n While it would have been nice if Hugo had stood up to Toby earlier \u2013 ideally when he\u2019d tossed Kaz Kamwi<\/a> aside and made off with Chloe \u2013 this speech was everything Love Island needed and more, giving the ITV2 show a shock of electricity just as it was beginning to flatline.<\/p>\n Up until this point, Twitter had been plagued by tweets from viewers voicing their disappointment with this series, which had seen few genuine connections, many predictable dumpings and a number of jiltings (mainly on Toby\u2019s part) with barely any consequences. Lucinda Strafford<\/a> practically ran into Aaron\u2019s arms the minute Brad McClelland<\/a> left the villa for her and no one said anything, while Toby leaving Kaz, Brad ditching Rachel Finni<\/a>, Aaron Francis<\/a> abandoning Sharon Gaffka<\/a> and Liam Reardon<\/a> ending things with Faye were all justified with: \u201cWell, that\u2019s the aim of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n Considering Toby has been the most prolific and serial offender on the head-turning front \u2013 (someone get this boy a neck brace) \u2013 it was so satisfying to watch him be called out by one of his peers and for there to be some actual fallout from a re-coupling.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t get me wrong, Chloe didn\u2019t necessarily deserve this show of support considering she was once in Abigail\u2019s position and had no qualms about being Toby\u2019s new squeeze during and after he was coupled up with Kaz.
